Elko admitted we had the hard count called and were attempting to draw them offsides. He said he had no idea why Naboo snapped it. I do! It was because Marcel tapped the center with his left hand. That is often read by the center as a silent count snap signal. How in the world does our qb not know that is a big risk to take in a noisy environment. That play is in Marcel and the coaches. I don't like how Marcel and Elko readily throw others under the bus. Especially offensive linemen. The qb should be praising those guys.

To not even have sufficiently coached up the offense to execute that simple play is ludicrous.

When the instructions are, "Do not snap the ball," they seem pretty difficult to screw up.

Yup.

Lack of attention to detail amongst other things.

And when was the last time you saw a hard count actually work? Answer is, - it doesn't work - even in highschool anymore because its so played out and predictable and only gets the defense and crowd more fired up. Also wastes a timeout.

There was no TO involved. A 5-yd delay was inconsequential if not beneficial.

Really

Someone has not been paying attention. If this is what occurred, sounds like business as usual for "our QB".

Have you played center & been goosed before. If Marcel did that it's on him not Naboo.

You're gonna move when your goosed so you snap the ball.

False start would've been better.

The RG took off on the snap...so more than one person was confused about what was planned vs what was executed.

For the HC to not know why, that is very damning. This was a winnable game and small details matter.

That can't happen on such a critical play, on the road, ever. Absolutely pathetic.

Universal signal for go on silent count since Inwas in 4th grade Houston Northside Harris County football. If you're a qb and you do that you're asking for trouble. Especially loud road game. Our qb in high school talked about it with our center and agreed he would not do that unless it was snap time in silent count.

The head coach and qb throwing the center under the bus and openly criticizing off linemen period is one of the worst possible cultures I've ever heard of. It's really bad leadership. If I were the Oline I would allow a few free rushers altogether and teach that qb a lesson.

I wish you crybabies would make up your mind.....one minute Elko sucks because he doesn't criticize Reed, the next he sucks because he criticizes Reed.

LMAO what a bunch of pantywaists!

Marcel under center just proves the play was messed up as he's not used to it nor was Mark N. (esp in a live game).

To me it was obvious to try and call them offsides unless there was a misalignment somewhere on the DL. Frankly, should have just punted as wasn't moving the ball 'well enough' to take that risk on the wrong side of the 50.

Just did in the Packers/Lions game.

There is a laundry list of things to blame on Reed or Elko but this ain't one of them. Lets put it squarely on the center who likely makes more than 90% of this board.

Watch the video of the play. If there was no play called and the center just inadvertently snapped the ball, why did all the linemen react as if a play had been called? If this was a "hard count" call, EVERYONE knows NOT TO MOVE, that's the entire premise of the hard count play. Clearly there was a play called, clearly Reed mishandled the snap and clearly Elko is covering for him, trying to protect and already mind ****ed player.

SIR! Elko said there was no play called and they have been working on it for 3 years!
