On Gameday - The coaching staff at Houston has helped understand the game, improve mechanics and footwork.

You know, the things our staff(s) seem to have zero ability to do with any QB's who come through CS.

How do we get some guys that coach up the talent we ($) bring in?

Not sure we've ever developed a QB at A&M. Possibly Tannehill since he switched over from WR?

JFF was just raw talent and force.

He also stopped smoking Weed, got over the injury bug, and gets to play Kansas instead of LSU

Tannehill was a QB all along, he only played WR because we were thin at the position and he was too athletic to keep off the field.

Tannehill wasn't a WR converted to QB. He was a QB that played WR...

It helps me know we've never developed any QBs then.

Biggest Mistake we ever Did was fire Sherman

He developed Jarrod Johnson until
The injury, developed tannehill, had one of the greatest offensive line programs in the ncaa, and had kids believing in the team.

Then we had to hire the con man….

Mond improved a lot from his freshman to senior year. I think it would be fair to say he was developed. But he's definitely the exception.

As a HC Elko has tied his wagon to Riley Leonard and Marcel. While both made the playoffs, Riley with ND and not Duke, neither are/were top NFL prospects. Elko and his staffs don't seem to have a propensity for QB development.

UH played (and beat) LSU less than a year ago

Weigman was a mess at A&M back in 2024 coming off an injury the prior year, overweight, off the field issues and his stats that year were not good. Could A&M have coached up Weigman better sure, but the majority of the blame lies with Weigman. He needed a change of scenery, more maturity and playing some weaker overall defenses to help his confidence this season. A&M and Coach Elko couldn't wait 2 more years to see if Weigman would mature and play better.

Underperforming at one location, moving to another location and "reaching potential" has worked for millions and millions of people throughout the history of mankind.

Mike Sherman was a .500 coach at A&M. I can appreciate what he did as an Oline evaluator and developer, but we need to tap the brakes a little on his overall success.

We were kind of famous for 2nd half collapses as well under Sherm whether that was limited depth or S & C . I remember reading somewhere he left S & C up to the players a bit too much as in like they do with pro players .

I liked the guy. Wish he had won more games at A & M but he didn't. A few more years under him maybe he'd have adapted to the college game better . Definitely would have been better than the mostly wasted years with Fran . I have to admit at the time I was excited about Fran but I think time kind of proved Patterson was the driving force behind Fran's rise to success at this level.

The other thing about Fran… terrible culture fit here.

Yes, we were infamous for that under Sherman for sure. Elko was the opposite of that until this year. Now we just suck the whole game.

Hire better coaches. However I think there must be a flaw embedded in the process, or we would done just that...better coaches hired

But the Cesspit damned Sherman and Mond and Weigman...the exact same Cesspit that is damning Elko and Reed. You can't make this up. The same voices in the same tones who are demanding Elko and Reed lose their job...also demanded firing of Sherman and Sumlin and RC and Jimbo and pretty much every coach we've ever had. As soon as there was adversity, they got tossed under the bus by the Cesspit.

Immature people with no skin in the game. Just anger and emptiness which they direct on whoever is the nearest easiest targets.

There was a mention of it. Somebody here should have been whipping his ass though. That's what coaches are for.

Fran ruining Reggie's years is the worst thing he did. He could have been a heisman and national champ in a real offense instead of trying to run so much option

Go check his quarterback ratings for his freshman and then his senior year and tell me if you still agree with your correction.

FYI you'll see it went from 108.8 to 146.9.

Mond did become more efficient over time. When he graduated, his mechanics were still bad and thats why he couldn't throw an accurate deep ball.
