We need a head coach

Elko couldn't handle Chip. We're going to have to get an up and comer type like we did with Klein.

And QB coach. Maybe head coach. Elko made so many bad offseason decisions it's certainly fair to consider replacing him.

Not sure it's financially feasible. We never learn. We do the same stupid extensions over and over and try to justify them. We are so insecure anytime a coach has a little success we set him up for life.

Fire Elko & go get Mike Shanahan from Indiana

Make his contract heavily incentivized rather than crazy guarantees

If he has success increase the incentives, not the base

fair point, but there also is a difference between OC's with experience and one with ZERO. In the case of A&M, the fact they we were in the playoffs last year and gave the OC job to someone with ZERO play calling experience is alarming. One would think someone with experience would've been drooling at the opportunity to come to A&M as the OC. Makes you wonder....

What's ol' Bobby Patrino doing these days? Jimbo never really gave him a chance to call plays. They never made it past jimbo's head phones.

Well you guys certainly act like your non-stop whining for Elko and Wiggins firing matters. Firing a brand new coordinator 6 games into his contract would definitely affect outside OC interest. And many posters here are demanding firing Wiggins be fired 3 games ago.

Winning is what matters. We are not winning. At the end of the season, that will dictate whether we stay with the coaches and players we have or we move on.

I trust that process will happen and the right conclusion will be reached....hopefully it doesn't play out in public with some *****y display of grief and drama like I witness here every single day.

It's well documented that Saban told the donors they don't get to call any shots. Hell he fired his secretary for answering the phone and patching a donor through. And people obviously do stay rich throwing good money after bad. They've been doing it here for years and yet we're still loaded.

This is a historically bad offense. We have a QB who went from the Heisman conversation towards the end of last year to literally the worst QB statistically in the country. Our offensive production is abysmal.
This isn't just getting rid of a guy because he's not lighting it up enough. We're talking about complete and utter failure.
Did you know that in our 3 conference losses so far this year we have 1, ONE, 1st down in the third quarter? Combined. We have 1 first down in 45 minutes of football. I'm pretty sure most of us on this board could do that by accident.

Name me a single coach or coordinator in high demand with good reputation that has a "heavily incentivized" contract? This is dumb stuff. Coaches and coordinators with a good reputation get good guaranteed payments AND incentives on top of that. They don't have to sacrifice. Stop saying dumb stuff like this. The market for good coaches requires guarantees AND incentives.

I agree that there was a window there to get a new OC with experience. Klein left right at the end of the season and announced his departure just before the playoff game if I recall. I can only think at that point of the season, the need to secure an OC who was familiar with the team and recruits was deemed more important than a proven play caller to minimize losses from incoming talent.

This is what we should've done with Elko. We could've increased the base some but what we did was ridiculous

Mitch Dahlen. Open the check book. Bring some weapons with him. Will help hold some of the recruits and some of the veterans I'd like to retain like Bussey.

His QB, Braden Atkinson, has thrown for 2,257 passing yards, 21 TDs to 2 INTs. He's averaging 376 passing yards per game.

I don't care who you are playing but he's putting up huge numbers; 376 against UH and 413 against Texas Tech. No way we put up those numbers against those teams playing them each twice, lol.

We should go get some evil dudes. Hugh Freeze, whoever IDC. Saban used to pick up *good* coordinators who were disgraced head coaches and it worked out well for him.

Shanahan would be a home run.

Defensive coaches rarely win in the pass happy CFB.

I think A&M is the easiest sell of all time to an OC. We are so bad offensively that even a terrible offense would be an improvement. That's how these coaches are judged. "Look at the improvement he made over the last guy"
