"First and foremost I want to apologize for earlier remarks I made about this fanbase, this is one of the greatest fanbases in the world and I don't want to downplay that in any way, we are evaluating making a change at quarterback and Coach Wiggins has been asked to step down from his role as offensive coordinater. Once again I want to apologize for the remarks made in the heat of the moment that should not have been said."

I don't care if he apologizes or not. The fact that he made those remarks is a pretty clear indicator that he is out of his depth and has no idea how to fix it.

When did he blame anything or pin anything on the fanbase?

I think he will start the press conference with an apology of some sort.
I don't expect him to announce any changes even if there are changes being made.

He didn't. And they know that

There are plenty of Good & Bad Ags.

The people who complain and call for some really messed up things (like suggesting physical harassment of the QB) need to get tossed off the site.

The people who complain, and actually provide some kind of analysis or insight are just fine imo.

People supporting a complaint or frustration with some quality analysis, aren't the problem. It's the toxic "bleeders" and trolls from other fan bases that come on here to leave their mentally disturbed rants; with no value Add whatsoever.

Nobody is happy with the direction the team has gone off in, but everyone should support whatever the predominant solution ends up being to course correct; and still hope the players find success even if it isn't on the football field.

I've been watching this Team for too long to ever give up on them, and I refuse to be a fair weather fan. Even when it's painful.
Aggie Football defies all expectations, both good & bad. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Elko makes a distinction between the fan base and Texags. Texags IS the fan base.

I believe its the fact that in his frustration he lashed out at texags (fans) instead of taking issue with his coaches inability to make simple adjustments. He should have just said stick with us guys, I know it tough but we are working on it. The presser up to that point was fine except that he admitted he didnt know what to do.

He shouldn't have said it. But….

There are fans.
And there are fanatical extremist idiots.
(and every major program has them)

He was referring to the 2nd one.

Both post on TexAgs.
He wasn't referring to Billy, or to TexAgs in its entirety.
Just the fanatical extremist idiots.

perhaps he could say

"I may have misspoke a little in the heat of it. What I mean is this, I'm serious about what i say today and what I've said in the past about building something, the problems right now are my fault and I have to fix it and we as a team have to fix it. I know the fans want me to fix it. We as a team and a fanbase have too much to do to go hyper negative. I need your continued support as we navigate our way out of this and realign as a team and a program dead set on success. The scrutiny is merited by the standard we set for ourselves, and we intend to rise to the occasion."

I didn't give a **** about the cesspool contents at all. All I care about is the OL and QB issues. I get he wants to stick with Reed for continuity and nerve doesn't think Hart is a better option, but Reed has NEVER been consistent. I want to see that addressed before anything.

Do you want him to stop by your house and give you a back rub too? Should he serenade you in affirmations? He's a head coach not a tug boat.

Disagree.
He referred to TxAGS as a platform, and we are all members of that platform -- "fans". Look, it is not being a "fanatical extremist idiot(s)" to point out the failures of this program in the face of SIGNIFICANT resources, which includes player performance (we should be getting top talent), player development (coaches), game execution (players and coaches), game adjustments (coaches). EXAMPLE: the fact that we do NOT have a 2nd string QB that is ready to step in is a massive failure. With A&M's resources, the program should have a 3rd string that could legitimately be a starter at other major schools. Then, for the coach to come out 2 weeks in a row and say he doesn't have the answers? That is the height of 'unacceptable'.

He opened saying there's two groups.
There's the fans, and there's the cesspool.
Both can post on TexAgs, since it's a public forum.

Which are you?

Personally i'm a fan. I post on TexAgs sometimes.
I'm incredibly pissed off at the current state of things.

But with WHAT I say, and HOW i say it....i don't think i qualify as a cesspool candidate.
And every fanbase has some cesspool candidates.

I completely agree with this statement. That said, I'll be fine if Elko makes no apologies. He can double down, as far as I'm concerned. Just do the very best we can do with the talent we have.
