Having a very similar season to us this year. Currently unranked and 3-2 in what looks to be one of the most bleak seasons under Lanning. You could argue they'd have a losing record with an SEC schedule.

I made this thread because Elko and Lanning both took the same bets and lost. Both promoted from within on their new OC hires after losing some of the most young and respected OCs in today's college game. Both did it as defensive minded guys as well.

Both rosters are highly paid for this year, but it goes to show you that your coordinator hires will make or break you as a CEO in this profession. It was a major nail in the coffin for Dabo after he lost Venables and his OCs

I'm not saying Wiggins is the main issue because he isn't. I actually think he's been solid with his playcalling. Watching the replays on SkyCast from Kentucky, LSU, and Mizzou is just maddening with how much 10 missed that was there.

But he isn't on the same level as Klein as far as feel for the game and designing route concepts. Stuff you would expect out of a guy calling the shots for the first time. Same with Oregon after losing Stein.

Thankfully, in this new era, both of us can be right back in the hunt next season given our resources and NIL

What Elko has done is manage to change the question from "What the hell has happened to this season? What has happened to Marcel Reed?" to "How could Mike Elko possibly remain coach after this season when he's essentially called our fanbase turdage?

I don't know if Lanning is on the hot seat, but Elko wasn't... until he put himself there.

Being an OC is more than just calling plays. You're coordinating the whole offense and just not responsibile for one piece of the pie. Wiggins has been nothing more than a WR coach for his career; he's a follower. Not everybody can be a leader. Maybe he'll be a good OC one of these days but A&M shouldn't be the place for him to learn.

Yesterday, Lanning benched Raiola after he threw 2 INTs and put in a third stringer. That's accountability. It's swift and clear. ESPN published an article about it.

Elko meant he differentiates between the turdage posting comments here and the real fan base. I do too. What is hilarious is how guys like you love to dish it out, but simply can't take it. Imagine being so ridiculous that you think one negative and totally accurate comment directed your way means the coach should lose his job. I didn't realize there were so many young girls on this forum.

Who has been given adequate game time besides Reed? And it isn't Hart when he's trotted out late in the 4th and hands the ball off 8 plays in a row. Hart has thrown 19 passes in 5 games in 1-1/2 years. That's not much of an opportunity to prove anything. You can't bring someone in once every 4-5 games and give them 1 series to prove anything. Especially late in a game when they aren't working with the starters.
