The problem lies in the fact that there is significant fatigue, call it BAS, from the fan base. For decades we have been prodded, cajoled, encouraged, and told that if we only build this facility, or hire this coach, and now spend this much on roster/NIL, that all of the pieces are in place and we will compete for conference and national championships. The fanbase have heard this and are tired of hearing it. No one wants to see regression, we would rather see re-load.
A loss to Arkansas and/or Mizzou will cause the fan base to check out altogether. People ain't drinking the kool-aid or buying the sunshine anymore. So Josh Pate can espouse all sorts of wisdom that may be true but when its been since 1998 for a conference championship and 87 years since a national championship, people are gonna say "yeah right."
It's understandable that you think that's right. But….oddly enough…it's not. Aggies have been "coming back for more" for almost 100 years. Every year there is hope, the stadium is full, and TexAgs is full of sunshine pumpers. Some may give up, but not enough to notice. And we're churning out new, hopeful Aggies at a record pace.
I was referring to this year.
But, you are correct. Our fan base is loaded with folks who will not vote with their feet or wallet when it comes time to renew season tickets. The new recruiting class, sacrificing a coordinator, and the typical TA kool-aid and sunshine pumping will result in a sold out Kyle Field and honestly, another 7-5, 8-4 type year. We will have the built-in excuses of young team, new system, etc..... wash, rinse, repeat. Its as predictable as August in Texas being hot.
