Yeah, really.
Completed less than 50% of his passes. Went 17 for 37.
Lots of passing yards on paper, but mostly stemmed from short completions with a lot of YAC by whoever caught it....most notably being Craver.
We scored 41 points, but he threw 2 TDs with 1 INT
Ran for 37.
Unlike some, I remember a whole lot more than just the final play.
Which was Boerkircher's 1 and only catch that night.
Also being Reed's 2nd TD, happening right at the very end.
I actually remember being way more impressed by the play of the young ND quarterback than our own.
Not so much in the stat line, but just in how he played.
I'd take that kid in a millisecond over Reed.
None of that has anything to with liking (or disliking) Reed as a person.
Seems like he's a great kid from a great family.
Doesn't make him a good college QB though.
I'm not sure he's even an average QB within our conference.

He was 17/37 for 360 yds, 2 TD and 1 int. 86 of those yards are due to one of the most athletic catch and runs I've ever seen, courtesy of Mario craver. So no. He didn't play very well. Unless our definitions of "very" and "well" have really gone downhill. Leveon Moss is the reason that game stayed competitive. I will give Reed credit for staying calm enough to get the ball to Boerkircher but that's it.

I think all the fans are forgeting coaching 101.
For example, if coaching a baseball infielder the player must be able to make the simple throw to first base for the easy out or you can't use him in the infield.
It doesn't matter if Marcel makes the odd circus catch for a to. He can't even make the short 5 yard pass for a first down.
He is absolutely useless now unless he start doing the simple things.
i wish he's stop hitting defenders in the chest from under 10 yards away.

His decline has occurred at the same time as our defense started getting gashed in the running game. We can't stop the run and then stop running it ourselves. We are 2-6 when Reed throws 40 or more times. He needs the defense to be good and for us to run the ball to be a serviceable qb. If he throws 40 plus he is throwing at least 2 picks.

Honestly he's better outside the pocket except when he states down receivers and hold onto the ball forever. One of his strengths is he's elusive. Not one sack during the kentucky ass whoopin.
Note to Reed, it is not OK to lose (front page article). ETA that if thinking that helps him to not choke, then ok.
Also, Horton is not as good for us as KC was. We need a young receiver to give us more spark.
The TE position needs to make plays also. Maybe Armstrong can do that.

A rhythm passing has to play with some tempo at times. Especially early. He has a helluva arm. But he was never going be a guy who set back in the pocket for 6-7 seconds and destroy zones one SEC.
SEC defenses have enough tape on him now. The offensive scheme as to be completely opened up. Tempo here there. Hell mix in toss out the backfield with craver lol. But you gotta do something other than showing the same **** over and over. There's not enough misdirection or tempo for me.
Or add some split back field with Owens and one of kids. Hammer them some without know which way handoff is going.
If we got one back in backfield and he's on Reeds right, a middle school defensive knows which way the ball is going on a run, show them something different for gods sake every now and then. Be fing creative

I think this is a huge issue that was immediately recognized upon his arrival and we all assumed Moffit would bulk him up. It never happened
We simply cannot expect to win a national championship with a QB under ~215lbs
Over the last 20 years only 1 QB has won a natty at Marcel's size - stetson bennet who was surrounded by some of the most stacked rosters of all time - 15 draft picks in 2022 and 10 in 2023 plus most of those players went higher than him.
So basically we can win with Marcel if we assemble the best roster of all time around him LOL

When Wr is open, Reed not seeing them (his clock is sped up) and not stepping up into the pocket (if Elko wants him to be a pocket passer, he has to step into the pocket and we are not teaching him...or he's mentally lost what a QB does). Lack of serviceable TEs being able to beat LBs is beyond problematic (so hoping Armstrong can step up, but don't think they are giving him a chance again due to 'Elko loyalty' to older players it seems).

Reed is the same skinny kid he was when he got here. He's not worked one day in the weight room to improve his strength or gain weight and be The best he could be physically. It's hard to motivate yourself when your money is guaranteed. It's also very hard to motivate yourself when they give you a position and you didn't have to work for it. We needed to bring in a good quarterback out of the portal to compete with Reid and make him earn his position. This is on Elko and he put all his eggs in Reed's basket. The inmates own the asylum and it's ruined college football.
