If Reed played an avg game and made avg throws, I believe we win this game. The D didn't play well but was gassed in the 4th b/c Reed could not sustain a drive.

We lost by 10 and Reed left 21+ pts just by not making basic passes. Crosses 3 yards off, Balls into the dirt, balls 2 yards too high getting our WR killed, etc. That deep corner pass called for PI had the worse throw mechanic and ball flight I have ever seen.

This team is fixable but that fix requires Reed to make basic throws.

Better defenses will shut down his scramble and leave smaller open windows with more pressure. If he can't pass a HS level test, how is he going to pass a college level test in the SEC/

We lost 27-17 at then 8-3 (5-2 SEC) Texas.

We did not score a single touchdown in a 10-3 loss to Miami in a first-round playoff game at home.

We throttled Arizona State 48-20 because we won the turnover margin 4 to 0.

We lost to Kentucky 31-21 as a 16.5-point home favorite, and this was our 3rd straight home game and Will Stein's first road game.

Mike Elko has dropped to 14-8 (7-4 home, 6-3 away, and 1-1 neutral) against Power 4 teams and 12-5 (6-2 home, 5-3 away, and 1-0 neutral) in SEC games.

2024: 5-5 against Power 4 teams; 5-3 in SEC games and additional losses to Notre Dame (home) and USC (Las Vegas Bowl)

2025: 8-2 against power 4 teams; 7-1 in SEC games with a road win over Notre Dame and home playoff loss to Miami.

2026: 1-1 against Power 4 teams; 0-1 in SEC play

The only reason we made the playoffs last year was KC. He was able to gather so many bad passes that it made Reed look a lot better than he is. Craver is good but not KC good so far. The peak was last year until the post Reed era begins, which might coincide with the post Elko era. Just wait til it soaks in next week that the season is over in week 4. It's going to be glorious to watch the defenders rush out there to prop up this clinically dead program. Hope I'm wrong but you can smell it coming.

Exactly. We want more 8-4 seasons. Remember we're not a national team. Elko is grest for us. We can stay mediocre forever. Next year is gonna be amazing. This was just our 100th "rebuilding" year. One day we will be as good as the basketball schools at football.

If we shuffled through more coaches we probably could've landed Urban Meyer or some such.

It's just a strange thing that, on the one hand, I don't believe it good practice to go firing coaches will-nilly without giving them a chance, but on the other hand I feel you can foretell the mediocrity, the failure, the inexplicable losses, the familiar frustrations years ahead of time.

He should be judged by how the team performs with primarily his own recruits, not those he inherited from the prior staff. Year 3 forward is when that usually shows itself.
