Sounds like the players received really bad advice.
At least they have college education to fall back on.

Weren't those guys going back to LSU because they got cut from the practice squads and weren't being picked up by anyone else? I'm sure it's happened, but how often does a guy go from sitting on his couch to having a meaningful role in an NFL team in the same season. To me this just seems like those guys can't be picked up to fill a role on a practice squad if/when someone gets hurt.

For the NFL teams, BFD, just call the next guy in the rolladex. Now for the players, they had to have known (or should have known) that this was a risk when they started this whole ordeal of trying to go back to college.

So those 2 couldn't make a 2026 NFL roster or a 2026 LSU roster? Bless their hearts. Someone should set up a gofundme for those 2.

one asked to be cut and the other was injured i think. the thing is you can easily make yourself get cut.

If they didn't know what the consequences were, they are fools.

So the NFL can set rules on eligibility for players to play in their league, but the SEC and NCAA can't?

Haha good one. I see what you did there. Say what type of job are you qualified for with a degree in introductory colors, from a university as fine as LSU?

They should sue Kiffin for enticing them to come to LSU.

Honestly, they really should. Deep pockets. Obvious liability. And I bet they've got communications from lsu/kiffin while they were still on roster.

Seemed like some solo attorney started calling himself a "sports law group" and telling everyone it was in the bag.

Why Kiffen or anyone else would listen to that is a different matter.

That's the NFL bringing the hammer down but also ole Miss is sueing the two players for breach of NIL contract. I believe they were both served papers in the past few days. Signed new NIL deals with OM in January and then defected to LSU within weeks. Definitely FAFO territory imo.

NFL views this as tampering with their talent pool. Lane probably effed these guys… maybe for good and he doesn't care .

100% they did. Hell, Kiffin was calling their freakin coaches while they were still on the NFL rosters and before all this went down.

I must be missing something. The NFL is essentially banning two or more individuals from the NFL who were initially eligible to play in the NFL. Who like other players that didn't make an NFL roster went somewhere to continue to workout and get better. But because they went to a college campus to work out with a college team who they weren't eligible to play for, they get banned from the NFL. But those who went to a private facility are still eligible for the NFL.

Why wouldn't they sue the NFL? What NFL eligibility criteria did they meet, that they now don't meet? Smells fishy to me.

NFL doesn't control conference rules but all evidence to date indicates they agree with this one. If your'e a football player and your'e aligned against the NFL and all P4 conferences your playing career gets pretty limited . I have to agree with one thing tho , this has all been very dynamic so there could be movement but I personally wouldn't bet on it.

Assume NFL office and all owners are on board. This is a ridiculously powerful force . 31 billionaires, the NFL and the Packers shareholders

I suspect this maybe leads to you are either eligible to play in college or pro ball but not both in the same season.
