I'm sorry bro but it sounds really lame to make this comparison. It makes it sound like you're trying to feel better about the fact that they are good...or at least rhat they have a frustrating ability to pull out games they easily could've lost.
Its a bitter pill to swallow that we squandered a window of opportunity when all of our regional rivals were struggling concurrently for many years and we have little to show for it. These comparisons look like cope.

Sayin had 4 games against non-cupcakes last year. He was 68% with 6 TD's and 4 INT's. That with 5 star WR's, 5 star RB's, and elite OL play.
Dude is the most overrated player in the country. He just gets to play a creampuff Big 10 schedule.
