They gave everyone the right color shirts in 2001 if memory serves and it may not. Did they do that today?

They did not give away shirts. The students that organized it donated all of the proceeds to one of the orgs in NYC.
ABC flew them to NYC to present the money on Good Morning America

I still have my original red short from 2001. Awesome to see everyone do ot again!
Looked like every one had white towels so washed out the blue. Color coordinated towels would have been the knob to turn to maximize contrast

That is incredible.. reading that is like looking through a time portal, especially the day after the world changed on 9/11. Thinking of where we were at as a society, ways we communicated, and in my personal life... how much has changed. And the fact that I had no idea I would be sitting here in my office 25 years later with 3 kids in college. Time moves too quick, enjoy today because you never know what tomorrow brings.

That's because there was an amazing amount of non participation. Was shocked to see how many people showed up in their maroon like it was just an ordinary game. And you'd have basically had to be dead to not know it was a RWB out. Disappointing

We don't appreciate Oklahoma State fans enough. At the original RWB Out, a good number didn't know this was going on until they showed up, but were immediately on board and scrambled for the right shirt. Mostly got it right too.

"Keepers of the spirit" unless that spirit is patriotism in the aftermath of a terrorist attack. In that instance they choose to make sure the country is aware that they are different and special because they are in an rotc program.
Misspoke when I said "gave". Supplied maybe the better word . The shirts and shirt colors were coordinated and distributed by a single group . Is that correct?
If so, I don't know if that was the case this time and maybe that's why the colors didn't look quite as uniform . I really don't know . Just spitballing.
I was in no way trying to minimize the Herculean efforts and results ( including charitable contributions) of the 2001 RWB out . I remain amazed to this day by what the organizers and contributors were able to achieve and in such a short time window. It was achievement of a lifetime type stuff imo. I hope I didn't come across otherwise.
