Get everyone to vote LSU out and Tulane in.

Let them know we will be entering proceedings to revoke conference membership. And by the way Tulane will gladly take your place.

Give Tulane a crap ton of money and bury their school. Then they will have an in state rival with media cash.

I've always thought New Orleans was cooler that Baton Rouge anyway.

ACC could step in and help by stating their members institutions will not participate in games with LSU while these players are rostered.

None of this will happen because a federal judge will rule in it, it has to get worse before it gets better.

Im rapidly approaching the point of just not caring anymore. The whole thing is an absolute circus and the game I've loved for 40+ years is just completely unrecognizable.

At this point I think I'm just ready to watch the whole thing crumble and then maybe we'll get something that resembles actual college football out of the rubble.

The downfall started with the acceptance of the forward pass. This decline has been a long time coming.

The solution is to go to the ivy league model.

Or that an ncaa player signs a contract that states tuition, stipends, hosting, food, books, etc are compensation for playing in the ncaa. Players are welcome to pursue other money making ventures, just not while in the ncca.

So you are willing to give ridiculous money to the school to watch guys that bring in huge amounts of money so you can brag that your guys are the best, but they are only worth a couple 100K over 5 years?

Makes no since.

Even with the 'ridiculous' money, how many athletic departments were actually making money before all this NIL mess? At the high end it was 20-25% of the Div 1 schools. So as everyone already knows, the money from football subsidized most of the other sports. So, yes, I'm ok with how it was before (not that we're ever going back).

This!

Rules? What rules? NIL, transfer portal, mercenary mindset for both coaches and players, so-called student athletes peaking financially at 21-23 years old, win at all costs, ethics be damned, and so on. These things are making it hard for me to care.

I know, insert obligatory "well, bye" gif

False premise.

The school is the brand, not the players. Without the school, the players are nobody. You could strap up 22 random dudes and they would get the same support as these alleged star payers do.

If a player think they are bigger or better than the ncaa, they are free to pursue wherever they think they can get the most value.

The current system is unsustainable.

This.

District judges and appellate courts rule the day now for college sports. Don't like a ruling? Find a sympathetic judge or appeal immediately to an appellate court. Still don't like it? Appeal to the Supreme court. Still don't like it? Start over again at a different judicial district.

And the SEC is stuck now, because they cannot control anything a member wants to do. Watch how fast an injunction happens against any punishment the SEC hands down to a member university...not even talking about kicking them out, just fining them or penalizing them. Some Baton Rouge judge will just rule in LSU's favor--again--and that outs everything back to zero.

Only way this gets fixed is to see a complete schism of the top 30-50 brands and they form their own league and rules, just like every other pro league does.

Doesn't matter....... When enforcement of said rules is imposed, the guilty party will just file suit as they do now. There are no consequences anymore because there every school/organization has a friendly judge on speed dial

Not gonna happen - it will be Clemson if it happens. They will screw over USCe as they are a newer member when compared to UGA or UF

I believe the only answer that a court cannot overcome is for all the teams in the SEC to refuse to play LSU. I don't believe a judge can force a team to play, and even if a judge declares each game a forfeiture in favor of LSU, would the committee really give them a spot with 3 real wins and 9 forfeitures?

The hard part is convincing the teams with LSU as a home game to give up that gate $$$, while the teams without LSU on the schedule get a full season of gate money.

That may be more than anyone could hope for.

This is true.

Minor league football would fold in a heartbeat. These guys would be earning a living working a Home Depot.

I want every player who comes through tamu to be successful at sport and/or life, if sport ends at the collegiate level for them.

However, some 5 star prospect coming out of high school has little intrinsic value until they put the jersey on. But, its relative. I guarantee college football would still be an incredibly valuable sport if the best players skipped it to go to some other league. And that other league, whether it be a minor league type system or Canadian football, would not produce nearly the same value for the player or the organization.

Yes, some schools make bundles of cash through football. But, it doesn't matter who fills the jersey in order for them to do so, they'd make it either way.

I think its a completely fair deal to trade athletic skills for a college degree and the perks that come with it (housing, food, training, connections, counseling, degrees, tutoring, stipends, free advertising, etc.).

It certainly isn't worth destroying college athletics over kids, namely football players, getting paid.

Exactly. If LSU doesn't think Tulane can't take their place they should think again. They absolutely can. LSU isn't Tulane because of the SEC. Not for any other reason.

You do realize Tulane was also in the SEC right? Tulane is a liberal school full of kids from New York, most of those kids and alumni could give 2 craps about college football.

We're talking about 5th year players that don't make an NFL roster…how many of those do you think will actually make an impact on a legit SEC roster? I agree, on the surface, this sounds like it should be prohibited. When you really look at it, we're not talking about big impact players.

CFB has some things to work out but I like the fact that it's not simply the top 10 media darlings who dominate everything every year. I know ESPN loves the darlings for ratings but the new system created an opportunity for A&M. Our AD, coaches, and some determined former students are taking advantage of that opportunity.
