I think South Carolina is going to have a tough year, and Shane Beamer isn't going to make it through. Option two is Josh Heupel.

Beamerito is a solid guess.

Lebby is another strong possibility.

Didn't Beamer get an extension after 2024?

Here in Vol-land, Heupel seems pretty safe. My bet would be Beamer.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

I want to vote for Dan Mullen but I had to search what SEC school he is at; currently on the hot seat already at UNLV.

Would say Beamer as well.

Watch out this weekend. If SMU goes into Doak Walker and embarrasses FSU, Norvell may be gone on Sunday.

The answer depends on how Sark does the first half of the season.

Yes, I'm serious.

If they lose a couple of games nobody expects them to, he will be squarely on the hot seat, and they damn near did exactly that last year after Florida.

He was under a very uncomfortable microscope at that point last season.

Between the money they've spent on that program, the talent accumulation, and the constant accolades they receive preseason, all of which is VERY public, the big money boosters over there have very high expectations. He has very little room for any losses at all

Yeah, I did a google search on Beamer. He was given an extension in Jan 2025. I don't see it happening until after the 2027 season. His contract goes until 2030. 50 mil

He's got a buyout of somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 million. Even if that were negotiated down, they'd still be looking at north of $50 mil. Not that that amount isn't doable, but the problem you have is add another $5-10 million (or perhaps more) for whoever they want to bring in to pay the school to release that guy -- whoever he is. Unless its someone like Harbaugh (NFL, etc.), and he may still be under a show cause order (you'll have to look that up).

Besides, who's going to sign up for all that? I don't see Day leaving OhSt, a place he's won a championship, for t.u., a place with as high of expectations where they haven't won one in a while. I'm not saying no one will take it or they don't have someone in mind. Just that, SURELY, the Tom Herman mess taught them something.

Right?

(OK, maybe not)!

I think the only true hot seat situation is beamer.

Sark is on the table if the season goes sideways.

NMSU FSU looked like a conference game.

I can't imagine an option out there, that's moveable, that would be a definitive upgrade to Sark. Maybe Lane does it again.

That was the first coach to enter my mind. If he crosses the conference and ends up with a middling record I could see it happening. The subsequent lawsuit would be historic.

Lebby is 7-17 overall and 1-15 in conference play . He'd be my best guess.

Lebby and Beaner are the top 2 SEC coaches on the hot seat. Nationally the top 3 are Norvell, Fickell and Aranda.

I could see Will Stein getting canned early in the year if UK implodes. Question would be if they would have the money or a good shot at another new first year head coach

Lebby has been terrible. He's my pick to be gone. Leach must have put some pirate curse on them because they have made terrible hires since his passing.

I think Beamer bounces back and gets to around seven wins to save his job for another year. Their OC last year was atrocious and although I think little Briles is the temu version of his dad,.he is still an upgrade and he will run Sellers more which is what they need.

Sark's job depends on how we do. If we make the playoffs again and he doesn't then he could be gone or move on.

Wild prediction time. Lets see how this ages in a few months.

Hot Seat (Order of firings this year IMO)
Jeff Lebby - could see him fired by mid season. MSST has had it rough recently and they have not shown much of a pulse. Fired November 15th.
Shane Beamer - 6th season, needs some results after going all in on Sellers and the transfer portal. Last year was a dud. 5 losses before going into Clemson. 50/50 shot they let him go before the rivalry game, my money is not.
Dirk - probably my hottest take here. 8-5 last year, are they trending down? Do the boosters move on before the ship is gone? I think so. Another 4-4 record in the SEC this year will not cut it. IMO Loses at Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, Okalahoma will seal the season and he will be fired by the SEC championship game.

Warm Seat
Kalen DeBoer - how long are the bama boosters going to set on "disappointing" seasons. I think their patience runs short this year without 10 wins. Though, I think they win 10 and he is safe another season.
Josh Heupel - dont see him fired this year but needs a 9+ win season or he will be in trouble next year. Schedule plays nice, they have a good shot at winning 9 this year. Dont see any movement.
Sark - another 9-4 season does not cut it with the current boosters. Fingers crossed they have 8 wins going into BCS and we put the dagger in them much like we did Brian Kelly last year.

Ice Cold
Elko
Kirby
Venables, I would have put him under warm, but recent contract extension surprised me
Clark Lea

First year HC's
Pete Golding - 1st(ish) year OM
Ryan Silverfiled - 1st year AK
Alex Golesh - 1st year AU
Jon Summeral - 1st year FU
Will Stein - 1st year KU
Lane Kiffin - 1st year LSU (though, a ton of drama early)

Beamer, Deboer, Sark.

Our comeback win last year put him on the hot seat.

Deboer because we are talking Alabama and were humiliated last year by Indiana, and finally Sark, which to date has the most talented team as reported, along with a glorified QB. If t.u. does not make it to the playoffs, the rumblings will start.

I think Jeff Lebby would be the first SEC head coach fired because he is 7-18 overall, 1-15 in SEC games, and 2-17 against Power 4 teams. Mississippi State was competitive for most of last year with 3 of their first 4 losses decided by 7 points or fewer, including overtime home losses to Tennessee and Texas before finally beating Arkansas 38-35 for their only SEC win in the last two years. However, Mississippi State lost their last 4 games to Missouri, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Wake Forest in the Mayo Bowl by a combined margin of 171-96.

I agree with you. Lebby is 7-18 overall. He went 2-10 (0-8 SEC) in 2024 and 5-8 (1-7 SEC), including a 43-29 loss to Wake Forest in the Mayo Bowl.

What will be interesting is to see which statuses change quickly. Someone who seems safe now will move to the hot seat and someone you don't expect now, will get fired. Happens every year.
