From TexAgs Sponsor, Hudson Oaks:

Before the season kicks off, we're feeling a little nostalgic at Hudson Oaks!

Today's Aggie game days may look a little different, but every generation has its own traditions and memories.

Did you tailgate with friends? Grab a beer at The Chicken? Walk over from your dorm? Meet up at a friend's house before heading to Kyle Field? Or maybe you had a completely different game-day tradition!

Tell us what Aggie football game day looked like when YOU were a student and what year you graduated!

At Hudson Oaks, our residents have been Aggies for generations, and we love hearing their stories about the way things used to be around College Station. We have a feeling our residents aren't the only ones with some great Aggie football memories!

If we scored 14 points by half the game was over.

If we were down by 7, then we kicked 2 field goals to only lose by 1. (OU - '06)

No second half lead was safe, ever.

We beat t.u. in Austin more times than we did at home.

Tech beat us more times than t.u.

It was dark times.

There was grass. There was also a ball. People would usually try to score points with the ball, or prevent the opposing team from scoring points with the ball; but at other times they chose not to score points, and seemed to be ok with letting the other team score points.

It was allot like that.

We used to tie an onion to our belts, because that was the style.

The only part of the stadium remaining from my time is the second deck on the east side.

My fish year Fall 1979. Construction on 3rd decks student side was ongoing though out the season. Kyle Field was not opened for the first game of the season because of the construction and concern of liability to attendees. The first "Home" game was played in Rice Stadium versus BYU on September 8, 1979.

The next home game was played October 13th. That was the first time I actually marched on Kyle. The only game where the 3rd deck was finished happened just before the t-sip game. Ags won 13-7. Finished season 6-5. Strange season.

I was a student from 1990-94. We never lost a home game.

Had two decks and one end of the stadium was open and we made so much noise the opposing offense couldn't get a play off. Finally would get my complete hearing back by about the following Tuesday, Now we have 103,000 and the opposing team has no problem getting their plays off. Was there '76-'79.

Freshman year (1980) Baylor beat us 46-7 at Kyle Field in a torrential, soaked to the bone rainstorm. The rest of my time felt a lot like that.
