Sellers finished traditional classroom work. One could argue the simpleton degree he's receiving is part of the downfall of college athletics. And this started a long time ago and hardly a word was said about it.

For those not familiar with Sellers situation:

"Sellers is on schedule to earn his degree in Sport and Entertainment Management in December after four years. His final requirement is a 6-credit-hour internship, which he is completing at a local golf driving range doing facility and project management work. While the NCAA normally requires student-athletes to take 12 credit hours to stay eligible, an exception allows players in their final graduating semester to take only the remaining credits they need."

Just like with the Sorsby deal players are able to play and earn NIL because of "rights" etc but that doesn't mean the NCAA has to rule the team they play for are playing eligible players. The NCAA can still say you can play whoever you want but you will also forfeit the outcome of any games in which those ineligible players play. At that point it's up to the college to evaluate what is more important the players or the team.

Sorsby and NFL back to College just speaks to how unmanageable it is to keep calling this amateur sport, we need to pivot to pro style management system with real laws and consequences.

I'm hoping and predicting that the whole NIL system falls apart and explodes never to be seen again within 2-3 years.

I have no sympathy for the Presidents, ADs, and commissioners who are now begging and pleading for help to fix the problems they created because they listened to all the wrong people. And I sure don't support the federal government getting involved! Just plain stupid, I don't care how educated they are.

When anyone says "the same people who…" and then give an example of supposed hypocrisy, I always wonder who these same people are, and if the one claiming can name an actual person as an example . Or if it is just a construct people like to use for an argument. I like Josh Pate, but he does this at least once per podcast to try and make some big point

Back in the old days, we got put on probation whenever we got good & threatened the status quo, while the blue bloods got a pass on anything they did.

Now it's legal to pay and we have as much or more money than anyone. Let's buy a few championships and then we can talk about changing the rules.

Mike Leach's suggested system would solve some of it...until the lawsuits start flowing in from players who want to switch or claim it is "unfair".

If you want to peruse the boards looking for evidence from the pre-NIL days, go for it. I was on premium at the time and the overwhelming sentiment was that players deserved to get paid.
