When I was a student, my '68 firebird had 160 on the speedometer, and I can attest to the fact it would do 140. Before that I had a '60 Impala (348 engine) whose speedometer only went to 120, but I buried past that mark easily.... not sure how fast I really went.
Many years later, I can also attest to the fact my BMW 650i would do 140, as would my Mercedes 550SL, which is about my speed limit where fear starts to take over.
