Kessler's own statement to the B12.

Doubling down of course with litigious action and a shot across the bow for them to start preserving their records now for possible discovery process.

I despise what these power tripping lunatics are doing right now. Part of me does want to see the B12 just go ahead and do it anyways and set the world ablaze. TT has openly declared war IMO. Let's see who is willing to stand against what is essentially sports tyranny.

Tech released this video from "the people with the answers." SMH. I am very surprised that they opened this video to comments lol

Just saw that too. Haven't finished watching it yet when I saw the comments weren't locked.

Brave of them.

Or really, really stupid.

Alright, I couldn't finish it. So much self righteousness that I simply refuse to believe is genuine. I look at these five clowns and I am positive at least one knows he is spinning a yarn. It was funny at first but then it quickly started to piss me off.

These dudes suck and have misjudged and mistimed their fight completely. Now they are committed and cannot back down. Because admittance of being wrong is now the highest sin possible in society once you commit like this.

This world sucks sometimes.

I would welcome some of the more fiery coaches takes on this right now. Spurrier in his prime would be epic. Mullet when he is on his soapbox? And yes, of course, Leach. Probably make sure all his player's fat little girlfriends take their phones away.

I have left some hot comments on that video. As a Tech grad, this whole thing is a scorching embarrassment. The longer I watch it the madder I get. What a ****show. I am ashamed of these "men".

Tech clearly does not understand the line best to keep quiet and thought a fool then to speak and remove all doubt.

If you look closely enough you can see the marionette puppet strings that Cody Campbell is directing from above.

As a south Texas oilfield kid myself, I'm very happy to see rich oilfield men setting the college sports world on fire!

I promise if left to Texas oilmen, college sports would be fixed faster and better than anything college Presidents, ADs, commissioners, state governments and the federal government could do.

Tech seems to be on the cutting edge of playoff football. Win! At any cost. With Sorsby and there easy schedule they are a playoff team. Much easier path than any sec team. And all publicity is good. Most of the college football fans didnt know who tech was.

They seem to be operating more along the lines of "It's better to be a fool than forgotten."

As you get further into the video, they start to hedge themselves, especially Joey Mcguire, by saying things such as "if he plays football..." or "the judge said he can play football..."

To be totally fair to Tech, I guess we have to keep in mind Sorsby filed the lawsuit on his own with a personal lawyer.

Whether Tech actually chooses to play him, I guess that remains to be seen.

They probably should have started the video by making that all clear. The President's stupid bit at the start was just that, stupid.

I have a feeling Sorsby would have filed the lawsuit with or without Texas Tech's direct involvement, but I don't mean to say I don't think Tech was at least explicitly supportive of it.

I was just saying there was a good amount of hedging in that video about what will actually happen in the fall.

Remember, Sorsby also just got sued by Cincinnati for violating his NIL contract with them. At the end of the day, this probably all originally stems from Cody Campbell (plus whoever) and none of the guys in that video, saying "I've got a business deal for you and no one can afford to stop us, not even Texas Tech....."

Yep. They are all-in. The longer this absurdity persists, the worse will be the damage to the image and the credibility of the school in general and the AD in particular. The term "self immolation" comes to mind.

I strongly suspect that Tech, or at least Campbell, drove the legal fight. But even if they weren't involved at all, they could have easily said, "Don't bother. You're not going to play this year due to the decisions you made." And that would have been the end of it.

They also could have said, "You have an addiction. That doesn't make you a bad person. And we are going to support you in every way you can. But supporting you doesn't mean eliminating the consequences of your behavior. That's actually called enabling. So you can stick around here as long as you want. You can work out with the team and try to get ready for a pro career. But you're not playing this year."

They didn't do either of those things. And that's why I think it's pretty clear they're full of s---.

They have to realize that if they were to win it all this week the entire country would consider it illegitimate.

I wouldn't want to win under a dark cloud. I don't get it.

If Cody Campbell wasn't in the pocket of the judge and apparently State Gooberment officials, he would be. You can bet your ass, if it were us, they'd have the President chiming in it.

B12 picking up the gauntlet thrown down by Paxton.

Not what it seemed at first glance though. They are going after him for basically abuse of power if I am reading this right. Not contesting anything on the Soresby case itself (yet). Just reiterating their original intentions.

What an absolute ****show. Paxton was an abject fool to get involved.

https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/big-12-pursuing-legal-action-against-texas-tech-texas-attorney-general-over-brendan-sorsby-132244341.html

Quote:

On Monday, the conference filed a 47-page complaint against Texas Tech, the Texas attorney general, the system's chancellor, the school president and athletic director in seeking declaratory judgement and a preliminary injunction to enable it to enforce its bylaws.

In this landmark case a league filing legally against one of its members the Big 12 is asking a federal court to bar Texas Tech and the state's attorney general, Ken Paxton, from preventing the conference from "exercising its right under its bylaws to sanction Texas Tech," according to the complaint obtained by Yahoo Sports, which was filed in the Northern District of Texas in Dallas.

The league is not seeking damages in the filing and is not challenging a state court ruling deeming Sorsby eligible, but is instead asking a federal judge to permit it to take action against the Red Raiders in light of legal threats made from the Texas attorney general, whose letter to the league last week seems to have triggered the Big 12's filing. The letter from Paxton's office demanded that the league refrain from exercising its governance authority, characterizing any sanction as an antitrust violation and threatening joint liability against the conference.

Perhaps most notably, the complaint lays out the conference's intention to sanction Texas Tech if it were to play Sorsby, who has acknowledged to betting on his own team while a freshman at Indiana, violating one of sports' most sacred policies.

According to the filing, Big 12 conference officials, university presidents and athletic directors have requested that Tech not play Sorsby, but "TTU has not agreed," resulting in the conference considering a variety of sanctions. Big 12 presidents and chancellors are scheduled to meet later Monday afternoon, though a decision on sanctions is not necessarily expected then.

Looks like Tech may need to leave the Big 12. Maybe the ACC will take them on the non-rev plan that SMU is on, and Campbell can take a greater ownership stake of the AD.
