2027 Orlando (FL) Jones EDGE Frederick Ards III commits to Texas A&M
Violence in the trenches and twitch off the edge are always in high demand, and Texas A&M’s 2027 class just added a heavy dose of both as one of Florida’s finest announced his Aggie commitment.
At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Frederick Ards III is a dynamic presence on the edge of the Orlando (FL) Jones defense. The length, bend and explosion make him a constant threat to the opposing backfield and a disruptive force in the trenches. The quick first step, his ability to cut the corner and his closing speed jump off the tape and have made him a top priority for college coaches across the country.
Ards has been a long-time priority for the Aggies, and following his first visit to A&M in January, it was clear the Aggies would be a factor in his recruitment. Since then, he has returned for multiple trips, and he took his official visit to A&M the final weekend in May.
A&M’s recruiting efforts have been led by Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie, and Ards becomes A&M’s 17th commitment of the class. He is the 10th defensive addition, and he joins a defensive line haul which includes Myels Smith, Elijah Patmon, Zyron Forstall and Kaden McCarty.
As a junior in 2025, Ards recorded 102 tackles, 24 TFLs, 18 sacks and 30 QB hurries. He is widely regarded as one of the nation’s top 100 prospects, and he received offers from across the country, with Alabama, Florida and South Carolina among his final contenders.
