Jimbo was a defensive mastermind - only coach that could shut him down

I knew Achane would be a star in the NFL

Might be the Best back I've personally ever watched in an A&M uniform, and that goes all the way back to Darren lewis

He is going to have $32 million guaranteed.

For comparison, Jeremiyah Love, on his rookie deal will have $53.9 mil guaranteed. Stupid of the Cardinals to draft him that high.

Hard to argue. He was a lot of fun to watch, as was Trayveon, Cyrus, Christine Michael, and of course Leeland.
It's nice to see an Aggie RB actually be successful in the NFL. Such a fickle position. Miami was the best spot for him to land.

Back in 2018, Fort Bend Marshall played Huntsville in the Regional Finals of the UIL State Playoffs. Huntsville was anchored by T'Vondre Sweat who went to tu and is now playing for the Tennessee Titans.

FB Marshall kept running this jet sweep read with Malik Hornsby (who went to Arkansas) at QB and Devon Achane. I'd never seen him play before, but it was like Huntsville could do nothing to keep him from getting the edge. No matter the angle the defenders took, he could kick it up a notch and get the edge. Unbelievable speed.**

I started following him from that point on, including watching them at the state championships in 2019. Unreal talent. I was pumped we landed him and I got to watch him in my favorite team's uniform.

**(That was one of the wildest high school football games I've ever watched by the way. Back and forth all game. Huntsville was up by like 5 or 6 with :30 left. 4th and 16 from the 50 for FB Marshall. They ran a reverse pass, that almost got blown by T Sweat just being a man amongst boys, thrown by Achane. Receiver jumped over the Huntsville defender to snag it, keep his feet, and run it in to win the game.)

I am very happy for De'Von Achane. He's a great running back and an exemplary man.

I don't think I've ever witnessed a player better at getting from A to B. He's never wasted a step in his life.

every A&M coach has his under-utilized and/or wasted talent

there will be no debate as to which player it was for the Jimbo era

Achane has already scored 35 TD's in the NFL

Guess Leveon's exit freed up some cash. Glad to see it going to a fellow Ag.

The inverse argument is that by limiting his exposure in college, he helped Devon maximize his future earnings in the NFL. Had he pounded him into the ground, maybe we win a few more games but Achane might have ended up like Moss and too hurt to make it in the league. Many of the top RB recruits now days are looking for a situation where they can share carries and keep their mileage down in college. You obviously need to carry it enough to show what you can do, but there are diminishing returns at this position when you carry too much of the load.

if those couple of extra wins come in the 2021 season...

and the Ags finish 10-2 instead of 8-4...and go to another New Year's Six bowl...

Jimbo doesn't get fired in 2022 -- would have gotten a pass for a down year
