Repetition of 'Texas A&M' at NFL Draft could serve as advertisement

In February, Texas A&M set a program record with 13 players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Now that the 2026 NFL Draft has arrived, the Aggie hopefuls are hopeful to hear "Texas A&M" repeated frequently from the podium in Pittsburgh.

Repetition in advertising is a proven marketing technique. It’s a strategy that raises familiarity and brand awareness.

In that regard, viewers of the NFL Draft this weekend figure to become very aware of the Texas A&M brand.

A&M had a program-record 13 players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine last February. Therefore, expect “Texas A&M” to be called out frequently over the next three days.

That’s not just a matter of pride. That’s also a selling point.

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko acknowledged as much Thursday Morning when he appeared on the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.

“You’ve got to build a program kids want to be a part of,” Elko said. “Kids feel like they’re getting better. Kids feel like they’re developing. Certainly 13 guys at the NFL Combine helps that sell.”

High school prospects and transfer portal targets all want to reach the NFL, so every time a player from Texas A&M is selected, it’s an advertisement from Elko’s program.

It’s possible three Aggies could be selected tonight in the first round, which begins at 7 p.m. CT.

Receiver KC Concepcion, edge rusher Cashius Howell and guard Chase Bisontis all have been listed as first-round draft choices in various mock drafts.

If all are selected, it will be only the third time A&M has had three first-round selections in the same draft.

Offensive tackle Jake Matthews, receiver Mike Evans and quarterback Johnny Manziel were first-rounders in the 2014 draft. Defensive end Sam Adams, cornerback Aaron Glenn and running back Greg Hill were first-round picks in 1994.

There is a real possibility the Aggies could set a school record for most players selected in a single draft.

A&M had 10 players selected in the 1976 draft. But that included ninth, 11th and 14th-round selections.

KC Concepcion is among the Aggie hopefuls to become first-round picks on Thursday.

Since the NFL adopted a seven-round format in 1994, the most A&M players taken in a single draft was in 2019 when seven were selected.

They included center Erik McCoy, tight end Jace Sternberger, defensive tackles Kingsley Keke and Daylon Mack, running back Trayveon Williams, safety Donovan Wilson and running back Cullen Gillaspia.

If all 13 Aggies who were invited to the combine — and maybe some that weren’t — are selected, A&M would join elite company.

Since the seven-round format began, the most players selected from the same team was 15 from Georgia in 2022.

LSU (2020) and Ohio State (2004, 2016) had 14 players drafted.

A&M could be next on the list, along with Georgia, which had 13 taken in 2025.
