Will Muschamp destroyed the Florida program. It was a championship contender, a decade later they are still searching for a coach.

Muschamp ruined South Carolina - not at the level of Florida but the team regressed from average to stink city.

Muschamp at Auburn was short lived but rated as a failure, giving up 6.4 yards a carry.

The chances of Will failing in Austin is pretty high, and should hopefully hurt recruiting, as players don't want to play for a failure.

History does not repeat itself but it rhymes, wreckage regression and fan base depression spells Muschamp.

Not a great poem but I think a pretty good prediction.

As a head coach has proven he isn't not very good. As a coordinator he had been very good. Now it's been a few years since he called a defense….so who knows.

We would kill for Georgia's record while Muschamp was there. Though since Smart is a defensive background coach, it might be a little challenging to use a magnet to find Will's defensive analyst needle in hay stack contributions as special teams coordinator (2021) and as defensive analyst (2024-2025).

Can we assume he is wearing the head coach in waiting mantle again? That would be awesome..,

To pretend the guy isn't a great DC is severe denial.

Looks like Elko is a good one but tu has a good HC and now an elite DC.

We were unable to capitalize while they were in the wilderness for several years rotting in the BDF. So it appears best case now is that we can both be really good at the same time.

Wasn't he just an analyst for Georgia. Not irrelevant but not a very definitive point. He was probably there trying to learn from Kirby more than shore up their defense.

They fired the better DC.

And defense wasn't even their problem.

So there's those two things.

or claiming Chavis was elite at A&M because of his defenses at LSU. He may prove to be better than Kwiatkoski but offenses are very different now than they were when he was elite at tu in the mid 2000s. That was nearly 20 years ago

In his three years as Texas DC the defense ranked 19th, 12th, and 50th. In his one year at Auburn they were in the 50s. He's been at Georgia for a while but if he was still elite he likely would've gotten an offer before now. He could still be very good but it's not a given.

See i think the joke here is that last time UGA played in austin (mushmouth was coaching) their defense was borderline unstoppable.

People continue ignoring the fact that he was never in charge of the defense at UGA. He was Special Teams Coordinator for a year, Co-DC for two years under Schumann (and Smart), and analyst for two years.

I don't know if he still has it in him to be an elite DC in 2026 or if he'll be a step down from the guy Texas just ran off, but his head coaching track record has zero to do with any of it.

Especially since he doesn't seem to be some kind of malignant locker room presence, other people in football seem to like him.
