I remember being at a game when he was the HC at Arkansas walking the sideline at Kyle Field many years ago. I was impressed how he was so into the game. He must have walked 10 miles.
The hogs won as I recall.
You were a great coach. RIP

Pretty sure I was at that game too (sitting behind the Arky bench with a bunch of my Arky relatives). I always remembered the way he went after the refs on calls that went against him. Listening to the fans yell "get him, Lou".

I remember when he hired away Bob Davie, our defensive coordinator, after the Cotton Bowl.

RIP, great man. "We grew up poor but I always had plenty to eat. I knew this because anytime I asked for seconds I was told, you've had plenty."

Great man. Uttered one of the best phrases ever:

Quote:

Said Holtz, after clinching an Orange Bowl berth at Arkansas and being pelted with oranges on the field: "Thank God we didn't get invited to the Gator Bowl."

RIP coach

One thing he said that always stuck with me, "Never let your children forget how much you love their mother"

Lou was coaching the pigs the first time I saw them play at Kyle. He was getting into the refs about something so he got the first "Sit down busdriver" yell that I was a part of. He was still yelling at the ref when we did the yell and he suddenly stopped and turned back to look at the students with this "Who, me?" look on his face. Paused for a minute and went back to work. They beat us that day.

RIP Coach Holtz.

He was a great coach, but an even better person. I haven't verified this quote, but he has plenty of good quotes on life through his public speaking.
