The number of offensive players invited to the combine is a record for A&M.
Colin Klein failed to optimize it.

The belief about the number of NFL talented players needed to win was right.
How many A&M will have in 2026 is hard to say, I would guess about 8 in total with 5 on offense.

It looks like the new Offense is going to be more air raid less K-State stump and thump.

Was never impressed with Klein at KSU or here. A change was needed

Yep. Klein called some good games, but on the whole he still underutilized the talent we had last year, and he was really exposed in the last two games obviously. Even if we were playing good defenses, being unable to do anything of consequence on offense with that many NFL players is a direct sign of coaching failure.

I wonder when was the last time A&M was top 30 nationwide in rushing offense, passing offense, total offense (admittedly by default), and scoring offense?

The 3rd down and red zone numbers leave a lot to be desired, but let's not pretend like we didn't just have one of our best statistical offenses in recent program history simply because we don't like how it ended.

Klein had his flaws that felt painfully obvious at times, but we have to remember that none of us are generally qualified or have even the slightest understanding of what is happening beyond what we see on TV. The extreme hyperbole that is "if you aren't elite then you're garbage" is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to college football.

Very curious to see if it looks any different with Wiggins in charge.

No offensive TDs in the two biggest home games that Klein called. Players have to execute, but that's unacceptable.

An offensive line with Bisontis, Zuhn, Crownover, Reed-Adams, etc. should have given us an unbelievable rushing attack and kept a lot of pressure off of Reed. All four of them are highly likely to be drafted this year. The inconsistency on that unit seems like a scheme/coaching issue to me.

Meh. He left. Going to hire him again so we can fire him? Or simply hold the HC accountable for his leadership?

Klein have us the best offense we've had since '20, which isn't saying much at all unfortunately.

Klein was good with motion and the use of TEs. OC needs to keep that going.

Yea, I wished in the last game he didn't call the false start play on 4th and 1 on opening drive, of the fumble play on the next drive, or the int play on the last drive. Any competent OC would take those out of the playbook!

Since under pressure we had oopsies, you do wonder if they practiced like they played…

Congrats to each and every one of 'em, hope they all get drafted....but there's not a lot to puff our chest out about. We put up a good number, finally. For once. Last year we put in a total of 3?

Other schools have been putting in some big (or at least respectable) numbers, for years.

For some context, last year looked like:
Ohio State 15
Texas 14
Georgia 14
Oregon 12
Ole Miss 11
South Carolina 11
Miami (FL) 10

Then the prior year, Michigan led the way with 18 total.

Don't get me wrong, 13 this year is great. Now let's string together SEVERAL years of some larger numbers.

No one's making excuses for the players, nor should anyone for the OC.

Elko has to get some of the blame.

I think the opposite op

To have the success we did with so few likely top 3 round picks and probably a bunch of ufas is quite impressive.

We finished 18th in total offense (442.2 yards per game), 27th in passing offense (262.5 passing yards per game), 32nd in rushing offense (179.7 rushing yards per game), and 18th in scoring offense (34.1 points per game). The 3rd down and red zone numbers were the biggest weaknesses of the offense, but our offense has ranked in the top 32 in all four major offensive categories for the first time since 2012. I hope Holmon Wiggins can improve our 3rd down and red zone conversion rates.

Either Klein or Reed or combination of both are the only ways to explain why this group didn't perform better.

Walking into last season, there's no way anybody would have projected our roster have as many players go to the combine as they did.

So to say the staff failed to 'optimize' their roster is pretty silly.

Moss getting injured was too much to overcome the last two seasons. Reed needs to be good enough to overcome that.

Klein can't make the reads and throw the balls himself.
That 3rd and 2 where Reed chose to throw a bomb to KC instead of hitting the well designed (and open) options underneath for an easy 1st down was a pivotal part of the t.u. game.
And those kinds of bad decisions aren't on Klein at all.

Would you support cutting reed since we cant win even with such a brilliant play caller?

for the folks defending Klein...

did you also defend Spavital when the 2015 offense couldn't score despite having NFL QB's and WR's and OT's all over the field?

whoops

So what? FSU finished 6th in total offense, 39th in passing offense, 11th in rushing offense, and 22nd in scoring offense -- all better or roughly equal to us. (They averaged 19.5 while we averaged 23.75).

How did that work out for them?

I think Klein did fairly well getting the offense ready for the game. Play DESIGNS were generally decent to good, except I think he insisted on keeping Reed in the pocket and that costs us a lot of first downs. But overall play calling and timing for specific plays was, at times, atrocious.

I don't think my last point is even arguable.
