Will the renovations help the team score an offensive TD in big home games since they failed to against Miami and t.u.?

This is not a smart use of $$. None of those move the needle for recruits or xfers. All that we currently have is very good and in good condition. $$ better spent on NIL and more player specific facilities and amenities like the weight room, academic facilities and feed hall aka nutrition center, none of which need updating right now so just put the $$ into NIL war chest.

Donors want their names on buildings not NIL money they'll never get credit for.

Then Athletics needs to get more creative on how they recognize major donors.

There is no way that any of these upgrades are necessary. If they are, we've been duped many times over by architects and design firms.

What do you think they should do to recognize them?

Looks good. Concentrate on beating the s**t outta the opponent in front of you. Everything else is noise.

Don't think you understood the reference, but the players would definitely NOT be focused on the opponents in front of them. Unless the opponents were desperate college chicks.

Jersey patches!

Right where the name patch would go if it were a mechanic's shirt.

OP sounds like the folks who complain about any money going to athletics instead of academics.
How about just being happy the money is there to renovate an area deemed necessary? There are funds earmarked for certain projects etc; this was one of them, and a decision made likely before NIL was a reality.

The Zoo makes me laugh sometimes. A bunch of lol poors *****ing about how multi-million-dollar donors want their money to be spent. What a disconnect to reality. You can bet our football operations department listed the facilities upgrade as a need, and is pleased to get them upgraded.

Potential players look at the entire package... their compensation, the facilities, the coaches, their potential playing time, the offensive or defensive schemes, and a zillion other things depending on the player. How many of you will only work for the organization that pays you most, and not take the work environment or other perks into consideration?

Most importantly, get this: When YOU give YOUR MONEY, you can tell A&M how YOU want it spent. You can tell them to spend it all on NIL! I say go for it!

"Oh no, I can't... I'm an lol poor.... I'll just sit and ***** about how other's people money is spent."

I know, just because you're too poor, too cheap, or whatever, doesn't mean you don't know way more than our BMAs and athletic department... You're right... If only you were in charge, we'd have won 10 national championships by now... Geez...

I thought the name of the game wasn't about facilities anymore - it's about having the most money to pay the players.

It is and you're exactly right, but some still want to give our incompetent leaders a pass. The BMA worship in here is comical. "Trust the BMAs" would mean more if it had ever produced championships. Remember, these are the same geniuses who almost hired Mark Stoops. Forgive me if I'm not impressed with their commitment to winning or their judgment.

I agree with most of this, but people still don't understand that NIL (or the vast majority of it) cannot come from the AD directly. NIL is supposed to be businesses signing deals with athletes to use their name, image, and likeness in advertising and such. So, if you have $1 million you want to spend on NIL, you need to have a business to run that through (and preferably one with a legitimate marketing scheme, in case they ever start enforcing the rules that every one agreed to in the House settlement). NIL does not get you a charitable contribution deduction, but, done right, you can deduct it as a business expenses.

…if it is a legitimate business expense, that is…paying players to just play isn't.

I get what you're saying, but without the money from those BMA's, we'd be screwed.
Seems Trev is doing a better job than his predecessors of keeping the money flowing, while also balancing that fine line of where it actually goes versus where some BMA's think it oughtta go.

And the facilities DO matter, when courting visits from prospects. There's gotta be a wow factor, on top of their NIL potential.

Facilities matter when courting visits from high school recruits and transfer portal players because they look at the entire package: compensation, facilities, coaches, playing time, and many other things.

Seems to have worked for Miami and their famous fan who I'm sure frequented similar.
