11-2 is better than 10-3
12-2 is better than 11-2. So I guess James Madison and North Texas will be ranked higher than us. I don't know whether Texas should be ranked higher or not, but overall record is not the only thing that goes into rankings.
C'mon. Comparing the records of two SEC teams is reasonable. Comparing an SEC record with a Sunbelt or American record is a stretch.
And yeah, the sips will probably get ranked ahead of us. Meh. It'll matter to every sip t-shirt because they're experts in looking backwards. I'm going to look ahead.
That is the point. You can't just look at records. And with the SEC expansion, you can't even compare SEC teams fairly just based on records. There is A LOT of variability in how good teams across the SEC are. Some teams are going to end up playing easy SEC schedules and some will play hard SEC schedules. Texas may or may not be ranked above A&M, but those doing the rankings should look at more than just the record. Texas beat some good teams in Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and A&M. We didn't beat any good SEC teams. But then again, we didn't lose to any bad teams like Florida.
In the end, it doesn't really matter that much. Both teams will likely end up ranked in the 9 - 12 range, and it doesn't really matter if one is ranked a little higher than the other. It is evident though that we exceeded expectations this year and they fell short of expectations. No matter where these two end up, that is a given. The negative for us is that we ended the season on a low note with two losses.
