Can someone explain to me why A&M is playing away games in 2026 @ Missouri and LSU since they were away games this year?

We get tu at home - let's play the second half this time!!!

It was logical and somewhat obvious that tu & LSU would not be both at home or both on the road

So that part is easily explained

The Mizzou situation is less cut and dried

The 24-25 seasons were temporary structures for the first two years of Texas/OU being in the league. From 2026 onward there are 4 year cycles that ensure every league member plays each other at least once both home and away. 3 permanent rivals were installed for each team to play yearly.

Basically it's a transition between the old model and the new model that starts a new scheduling cycle, and they didn't pay too much attention to the '25 schedule

No one should be afraid of playing MIssouri or LSU anymore.

I knew we would play 4 SEC home games in even years and 5 SEC home games in odd years because we have home games against Power 4 nonconference opponents in even years and road games against Power 4 nonconference opponents in odd years. Playing 4 SEC home games resulted in playing road games at LSU and Missouri in back-to-back years to evenly split the 6 rotating SEC opponents, but I am glad we are not playing a road game at Texas in back-to-back years. This means splitting home and away games with LSU and Texas every year instead of playing road games in both Baton Rouge and Austin every odd year.

Made sense to me because we play Arizona state at home so we have 4 home conference games plus our ASU game in 2026. ASU is away in 2027 and we will have 5 home conference games. So 5 power 4 games each year.

I'd rather go to LSU 2 years in a row than go to tu 2 years in a row. Missouri came to Kyle 3 years in a row not that long ago so I'm ok going there 2 in a row.

This. When Bjork said that the first game with the sips would be at Kyle Field in 2024, it was obvious that we were likely to play LSU back to back years in Baton Rouge because having both those games at home or on the road in a given season is not ideal.

With the 9 game schedule, split between three annual opponents and six rotating opponents, the only way to make that work is to split the six rotating opponents, three at home and three on the road, with the split between your annual opponents determine whether you host four conference games or five. Because we are playing ASU at home in 2026, and on the road in 2027 (and repeating that pattern with our subsequent P4 nonconference opponents, that meant we were going to play 2 of the annual opponents on the road in 2026, and one at home.

As it happened, we played all three of our annual opponents on the road this year, so we were bound to repeat road trips with two of them. There was no way we were going to plays the sips back to back games in Austin, so that made the decision: we would repeat road trips to LSU and Missouri.

LSU has won three national championships this century with three different coaches. They clearly do something correct in Baton Rouge. And while they just hired the biggest d-bag in college football he happens to be a d-bag that can actually coach. While we should not be scared of LSU to think they are no longer a threat is insane.
