5-8 went 3 weeks between games also.

I guess this is to preserve playing these bowl games on NYE and NY. Also my guess is to not compete against nfl

Balancing the playoffs and the bowl games has turned this into a total joke

It's absurd.

The FBS college football calendar is beyond problematic. The portal opens immediately after the quarterfinal round, and the early signing day is a big reason for the early coaching vacancies.

We should have first round the week after the conference championship games. Sorry Army/Navy...but you'll need to move to rivalry week.

We need to push the transfer portal and early signing day to after the CFP championship game. That will also fix the coaching carousel.

How about just play every week till the playoffs are done. Ignore the bowls. Ignore the NFL. Just play the damn games!! There's another 2 week gap between the semis and the final game.

They know it would get killed up against the NFL Saturday games.

The bowls refused to move from their New Years slots. TV sided with them. NCAA had no choice.

Given both leagues are essentially pro now, the NFL might lose some viewers but doubt it.

Then why not just get rid of conferences?

If there were no CCG's this year, who wins the SEC? Who wins the Big 10?

You know CCGs didn't start until the 90s, right? They were still able to determine a winner back then. Now conferences have grown larger, so it's harder to determine that winner, but right now the CCG can cause a lot more harm than good.
