Agents are asking $5M for the top transfer QBs according to Shannon Terry and Pete Nakos of ON3. These are semi-pro athletes now, pretty crazy.

I'm sure there won't be any problems when one player is making 5M and others protecting his ass are making 50k. This isn't the NFL. Many of these QB's you have no idea what you are going to get.

I've been critical of Reed but if that is anywhere near the market then you stick with him and invest that kind of money in multiple other players. You can make $5 million go a long ways with playmakers at other positions.

Reed probably gets us to 8 wins. Buy the remaining 2 wins through prudent investment in other positions. Don't blow it on one QB who may not deliver.

Darian Mensah's deal last year from Duke was reportedly $8M for 2 years

They want more than what their coaches are making at their current schools.

We've got an incoming freshman who will give Reed a run for the starting roll.

Pretty soon kids will get paid more money to stay in college, play football for 6-7 years and make more than NFL rookie contracts...

I thought the football portion of the profit sharing cap was roughly $15 million. $5 million for just your QB is not sustainable for the overwhelming majority of schools and doubtlessly depends on massive booster NIL commitment.

Reed will make a decent backup QB next year.......he just isn't a Division 1 quality QB !

Laughably they would all be making more then most backups in the nfl. Those backups would smoke everyone on this list.

Sad state of affairs. It's gone, forever

NIL is or maybe already has ruined college football and college sports in general.
Yes I'm old school and will never believe this is best for the game.

Elko will stick with Reed. He had a terrible performance in a close loss that ended our season, but he showed some really good things for most of the season. The coaching staff will try to continue his development while working on improving the players around him.

None of this is sustainable. There is a five year shelf life at best. "Schools" can't keep forking out $50M buyouts, plus paying kids millions to "come to school."

Yeah, I know that. Read my post again. I am saying the schools that can pay a single player $5 million are relying on booster money / NIL. And even in the P2 conferences, maybe only the top 3rd of the schools have the base to do that. I'm probably being overly generous too.

Like many, I don't like where college football is at. If it is all about the benjamins, I'll watch the NFL. The quality of football is better and there's less drama with the coaches. They either perform or are fired in relative quick fashion.
