They list walkons and nickels are also listed at CB.

On scholarship, our CB group is probably on the higher end of height. Lee, Ricks, Humprey, all listed at 6-1. Currie is 6-0. Beal Goines, Thomas, and Sellers are 5-11. Our incoming recruits are 6-1/6-2, 6-0, and 5-11. Also 6-1 and 5-11 in the 2027 class.

Shaw, Chappell, Pettaway, Rogers, all 5-11 or 5-10, are nickels. The rest are walkons.

FWIW, I think the average NFL corner height is just under 6-0. Our average height is also right at that number. We are not short at corner. One of the taller, lengthier duos in the sec this year.

Can someone explain why we are giving current players more money?

I thought they changed the rules with the house settlement and there's now a limit to total athletic direct NIL

Why wouldn't we just pay all the current players everything they're ever going to get in a multi-year deal BEFORE that law went into effect in july?

It doesn't make sense

There is and will never be a limit on NIL, this is America and you should be allowed to earn whatever the market says you are worth.

I believe you are thinking of the cap on revenue sharing which is different than NIL. Players will earn essentially a salary from the revenue sharing but can still make money via NIL on top of that.

This is similar to the NFL…every team has a cap for salaries and their players, but Patrick Mahomes can still make millions more doing State Farm commercials if he wants to (NIL)

Great to see Dezz stay, but "re-signed" sounds disgusting with what CFB is nowadays.

Not really. Look at his numbers. Damn good

They threw at him over lee because it was a pick your poison thing. Yes. Still one of the better cover corners in the league and coverage stats show that

And when teams did complete passes on him, it was usually a perfect throw and catch. He has really sticky coverage

This. Ricks got a lot of unnecessary shade. Elko leaves his corners on islands all game every game and he would maybe give up the occasional, "nice throw, better catch" type plays. Our corner play was really solid. Happy he is back

Yup, would 100% rather see someone complete a great pass with Ricks glued to the WR than have what we had 3 years ago. Got so sick of seeing CBs yards away from the WR

Did Bisontis declare for NFL draft?

There goes the rest of our OL.

That means we lose Zuhn, Fatherree, Adams, and now Bisontis so 4 out of our 5 starting OL correct? Reed better gain more weight and be ready to run the first few games while the OL gel.

Every single year. Most of those are out of eligibility. These draft declarations don't really count as losing players.

Agreed, but we will have a lot more drafted this year than normal years

Only guys going before their eligibility is up are Concepcion, York, and Bisontis. The rest are just normal SRs declaring, which is becoming a trend.

Some argue that Lee could fight for another year, but he's a 5th year SR. He'd be fighting for year 6. He's played his share of college football so I'd count him as someone who is expiring eligibility as well.

Yes but most will get drafted which is a change from years past.

Maybe I am out of the loop, because the draft is definitely the part of college football I pay the least attention to, but I don't remember any year where we had 13 draft declarations. We frequently have that many guys run out of eligibility or whatever, but many don't bother declaring. I'd assume if you do, you have at least some hopes of getting invited to the Combine and making a team. The most I can remember even getting to the Combine in recent memory was in 2022, and that was only 9. I'm not even sure that the 2012 team had more than that in any year because a lot of those players were different classes, so they didn't all go in one year. If at least 10 of these guys are even invited to the Combine, that is probably a record since ... the 90's? I don't know.

My almost completely uniformed assumptions:
Will Lee III (CB) - Should be invited to Combine, a chance to get drafted.
KC Concepcion (WR1) - Should be invited to Combine, should be a high draft pick.
Amari Niblack (TE) - May be invited to Combine, unlikely to be a draft pick.
EJ Smith (RB) - Should be invited to Combine, unlikely to be a draft pick.
Scooby Williams (LB) - Should be invited to Combine, a chance to get drafted.
Albert Regis (Interior DL) - Should be invited to Combine, should be a high draft pick.
Leveon Moss (RB1) - Should be invited to Combine, likely to get drafted (maybe not as high as he should due to injury and being an RB).
Armaj Reed Adam's (OL) - Should be invited to Combine, should be drafted.
Cashius Howell (EDGE) - Should be invited to Combine, should be a first round pick.
Tyreek Chappell (Nickel) - Should be invited to Combine, a chance to get drafted.
Tyler Onyedim (DL) - Should be invited to Combine, likely to get drafted.
Chase Bisontis (OL) - Should be invited to Combine, likely to get drafted.
Taurean York (LB) - - Should be invited to Combine, likely to get drafted.

The top level guys at that position are hard to come by in the portal, most of those guys are locked up and paid well by their current team

His position isn't a stat monster so I always question fans when they complain.
