This is going to be addition by subtraction. Wiggins worked for Saban for 5 years.

I expect he will have the offense practicing running and making a 3rd and 2 until they can. No bombs on 3rd and 2.

Also give it a damn hard try to punch the ball into the opponents end zone by pounding the rock.

But the only proof of how he is better is that he worked for Saban?

We ranked right around 100 this year in red zone scoring offense. Fire the ST coach and learn how to score points when you have chances. This was our #1 undoing this year. We should have scored 17-20 points minimum vs Miami based on our opportunities

Klein was the qb coach and OC.
Don't we still need a qb coach?
I bet Elko brings in a qb coach/ co-OC.

Also curious what positions we target in the portal with our changes at dc and oc.

Can't be worse honestly.

In the biggest two homegames of elkos tenure Klein's offense scored 3 points. Enjoy that k state

good riddance...

idk why mediocre coaches get accolades.

Colleges level coaching must attract bunch of mediocre talent compared to rest of industry.

pull random interested Plummer or electrician and after few years they could pull off OC duty

sound stupid? but not wrong

successful HC level talent is much different, I will give you that.

It's a big question mark still. To me, that's the topic of the offseason. I expect our defense will continue to improve.

X's and O's matter.
It's way more complex than you're giving it credit for.

Then you've gotta trust that a group of 18-22 year olds, some of which make more money than you do, are going to execute what they were able to accomplish in practice when the lights turn on and the cameras are rolling.

I like the coaching philosophy, but he won't have the horses that Saban had. It ain't rocket science.

I played ball on the OL. Successful short yardage play is about each OL whipping the man in front of him. They need to practice it good on good until it becomes 2nd nature. You don't need to be a genius. Just Coach your team up to impose their will.

The poster that said we need a new ST Coach is right.

No problem if Elko hires a QB Coach co OC.

To add...
18-22 yr old that up until they start their neediest stage was aHS team that might have 3 other elite players on the roster.

This isn't the NFL where the top 2-3 college players get the call for one of your 90 slots (including backups) and are ALL elite pocket passers. College offensive coaches are constantly trying to predict capability and tune/adjust offenses based on roster talent.

Ok. And I played LB on up into my college years.
In a short yardage vacuum, you're mostly not wrong but there's still more happening.
But if thats really gonna be the extent of you're blocking scheme, don't expect to win many games

Plus my post wasn't responding to OP anyway

I am talking only about short yardage. Whip your assigned man. Klein had us acting like ballerinas that had to throw over the line of scrimmage.

When we have multiple downs to make a few yards it is idiocy to predictably revert to passing. Miami was laying back waiting on that ball.

Why are you OK with Wiggins? He's never been an OC. And Elko has whiffed on the only two coordinators he's hired at A&M.

Like hiring somebody who never played QB. With his background Wiggins ought to be good with getting the run game on track.

We all *****ed about RC's offense, but an RC Slocum offense would have won the game yesterday.

Great insight as a long time Coach of 14-18 yo. Reminds me of a song lyrics from my youth, "easier said than done"

Crazy ass thought......does Mike Gundy want to stay away from football or maybe he could be coaxed into some sort of offensive consultant?

If Elko's whiffs land us in the playoffs then I'm ready to see what happens when he doesn't whiff.

3 points against tu and Miami. Anything is better than that.
