Our Special Teams has been an issue continually yet nothing has changed.

Our QB depth is zero.

There's no excuses for such terrible QB depth and development along with unreliable kickers

Typical 2%er.

Elko is the reason for the playoff season.

He and his staff are responsible for keeping our players here post-jimbo, and they have been doing a great job recruiting and in the portal. Yes, there are issues to be addressed....there will ALWAYS be issues and things to work on. That's life on and off the field.

The culture here has been outstanding. All it takes is listening to how the players talk about the team, the coaches, and our university.
I agree with this. I don't think Elko is the issue.

People just are looking for someone to blame. And don't want to blame players.

No respect. SEC hates us and disrespect us at every turn. SEC refs are terrible. Nothing is fair in this sport.

We were never going to advance. The media has its darlings chosen every year and we won't ever be in that group.

Yell Leaders making GRWM makeup tutorials doesn't really help our image when we're in the Alpha SEC conference.

We need to drop the Yell Leaders tradition.

They fawn over a good season with the weakest SEC schedule possible and then give incredibly stupid extensions at exorbitant prices.

Im not sure how any of what I've said is even remotely 2%er

I'd die for this team, stupidly. But I'd still do it.

A program at the level of A&M can replace players quickly and vault themselves to the front if it is done well. eg Texas Tech

If youre going to say Elko is the reason for the CFP... Elko is the reason we made it and lost. Plus, why we lost to tessus. You made no real demonstrable reasons to anything while slinging an insult because you didnt like what I said about OUR program. You have basically said, all great things are because of Elko and all other things that have not been great still need work and will always need work

Wow. Life must be tough with the whole world stacked against you.

It's not that difficult: win=advance

There were some crappy missed calls, but those didn't lose us the game. Poor coaching and poor play did that for us. At home and only scored 3pts. That's on our offense.

We won every offensive stat except rushing and only put up 3 points. Be mad about that.

We have this irrational fear that we will lose a coach that is halfway decent and we can only do worse. Even when there's no proof of being elite level, we want to pay at that rate if it could be possible. Mind you, with the raise/extension Elko also got raises for all assistants.

There is an inherent inability of managing coaching. A keen ability to do things completely wrong in the AD. Criticize it and youre a horrible Aggie haha. We still can not represent A&M well in contracts or negotiations.
TAMUallen

And there's those of you who will wonder, why is he even wasting his breath or keystrokes.

That's fair but this site is here for discussion of Aggie sports. We are getting better, yes. The same exact problems still remain which indicate there's a deeper issue. You dont keep seeing the same problems all the time without there being a bigger issue needing to corrected. Ignoring it because it needs a more complex solution doesnt make sense thus it deserves it to be discussed

I don't mind the contract extension. I do mind us not playing well in 3 straight games since the extension was given. Acting like we were the same all year and it was just a weak schedule is delusion. The team we saw today and the last few weeks would have lost 5 games or more.

The most identifiable difference is the performance of Reed. It's tough to maintain drives when your QB is that inaccurate. He was jittery in the pocket, wouldn't throw on schedule and threw off balance late…same as he did against tu. What frosts my ass is that this sloppiness could have been worked on after the display in the tu game. It wasn't. We lazily just game planned a bunch of WR screens that were poorly thrown and consistently stopped for no gain. That is poor coaching.

As I said when Elko was hired, he's a mediocre coach at best, just like all our coaches since 1939. Elko is not and never has been a defensive guru, as some have claimed. We hired him with no effort toward a serious HC search. He has no HC experience except here - Duke doesn't count in the SEC.

Until we decide we need a professional college football search firm to find our coaches (HC, DC, and OC ) we are doomed to throwing darts blindfolded!

I remember when Fran was a "steal" and a "can't miss" hire. Same with Jimbo, heck he even had a Natty in the trophy case. We've had pro search firms. We all want success and want it right frickin' now! We are certainly due. It is all a crap shoot. There's no magic bullet. I think we have the right guy. Has he made mistakes? Sure. So does every single other coach. Elko has us closer to success than any other coach we've had in decades. Some teams catch lightening in a bottle and have success almost immediately. Most have to work at it for a bit. We made it to the CFP for the first time ever, we've seen it. Hopefully, we continue to see more of those opportunities. Maybe we'll catch a little of that lightening. We are heading in the right direction. Everyone is learning to win at this level. Who is your can't miss hire? Do you hold all of the other schools to the same standard? How do you think OU fans are feeling? I totally get the disappointment. I said a few choice words today. I don't understand how I can see that 99 has a low trajectory on every one of his kicks from the very first time I saw him kick and our coaches don't but with that being said, we still have had a historic season. Everyone keeps talking about our soft schedule then praise TT and Indiana. I would just encourage everyone to look at history and other teams with the same critical lens that we look at our own team through.

Elko is not your problem…

He replaced Bateman last year in anticipation. He did the same with Klien…. His guys were already on staff. Klien did t work out, he's gone. Bateman was. It the man he was removed if play calling duties.

Klien did cost us dearly, you are right. But Eli ain't the problem.

No, we weren't. If we were their RB would not have had 170 yards, our leading rusher would not be our QB, and we would have had more sacks/pressure/TFLs than Miami. They had more speed on D at LB by a mile.

Miami had a better OL and RBs, and a better DL/LB front 7 particularly at LB.

That is not even debateable if you watched the game or were AT the game as I was at field level. Just because Reed made a few splash plays and Beck was a workman field general doesn't mean we were the better team. Beck made ZERO mistakes, Marcel had 3 TOs.

Unless we have another 10 win season relatively soon, I'm feeling like we can expect a 10+ win season in a little over every decade. And I don't think I have that much more time to wait.

Nah, it's pretty normal. Nobody likes the head of a program clearly being on his way to having a TLC series about his needed weight loss due to the imminent threat to health from ridiculous obesity

I know we are losing the entire OL but I hope that is an area where we actually improve. There is plenty of talent on the roster but OL takes years to physically develop.

A&M's offensive output in big games at Kyle under Elko:

What was you prediction with this soft schedule? Pretty sure it wasn't 11-1.
I had us going 9-3.

If I would of known our opponents would of been awful, would of been around the 11-1 12-0 range

The word you're looking for is "have".

As in, I would have expected our offense to be better prepared after the poor second half showing against tu.

1. Not promoting from within- the offense is going to be even worse next year - never promote when the OC leaves - hire from outside

Yeah, someone who has actually been an OC before. Someone who has a track record so that you can evaluate how they adapt to their talent, take a look at their track record, their offensive philosophy etc.
