Our receivers haven't really developed? Craver and KC have been carrying us but our homegrown guys haven't really done much. ABR has come on strong in the back half of the season but that's about it.

how many wrs actually have an opportunity to shine on any team? 2? maybe 3?

I strongly disagree

The only one that appears to be struggling to develop is bussey

The other wideouts in depth roles have all stepped up when their number was called

All the tight ends have progressed well too

They all also block downfield well which rare with talented wideouts

I think the development has been first rate in this program

Jimbo wr development was absolute dog**** though

Outside of ABR injuries I feel like he has progressed well throughout the season. And some of the younger guys have shown flashes.

We have three guys with 20 or more receptions and only three guys with 200 yards or more receiving. I guess I just expected a little more

May want to go look at every single NFL team and every other grade A NCAA team. They will mostly ALL look exactly the same.

Only so many passes to go around and for the last month our QB has been a bit of a disaster.

Yeah I feel like the opposite of OP. This is the best development I've seen from our WR's in ages. A lot of promise in the WR room.

it could be reasonably argued that we have more talent and depth at skill positions than any team in the country.

I'll take it.

I dont see any need to manufacture something to complain about.

Having two All-American caliber WRs that came out of the portal is not a problem...Its the reason we won 11 games and are in the playoff.
TheDecadeSapling

Finding two studs in the portal every year isn't sustainable.

The gaslighting is ridiculous here.

How was Marcel a disaster against LSU and Missouri? SC had some mistakes and then he was absolutely elite in the second half with a performance Mendoza could only dream of. Texas he was fine and hitting some incredibly tight windows. Only turned bad when trying to press the pedal at the end within a scheme that was never set up for success in that game.

GTFO.

Bussey has been a full time WR for almost 1 full season.

You do realize that once a play is called, it's up to Marcel to make decisions on the execution?
RPO's, whether to R vs P
3rd and 2's, whether to chunk it deep vs hit the wide open shallow route
Laser into triple coverage vs taking what the D's give you.

Marcel can play really well at times.
Marcel can also play like sh*t at times. And you can't just blame those sh*t times on Klein and scheme

Our success on offense (or lack thereof) relies heavily on Marcel's decision making while the lights are bright and bullets are flying

I'm more optimistic about our receiver play since... ever. So I don't see it that way at all.

Agreed. Once we can prove up NFL caliber development here, we'll start attracting more elite level prospects.

I think our biggest issue is that our offensive line is fools gold. Can't run block, and are just OK in pass protection.

Just ok with pass protection? I don't think the numbers support that

One might reasonably assert that our roster at skill positions surpasses any other team in both talent and depth.

Bethel-Roman's role has increased as the year has progressed, and he's made some big plays. Bussey hasn't shown as much, but it might just be a lack of opportunities. He's the 4th WR, and we use our RBs and TEs quite a bit in the passing game as well.
TER_2015
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I remember prior to the season starting Elko coming out saying that Bussey would primarily be used as a receiver. I really think he's a better utility player (rb and wr) like he was in 2024. Yes, he needs to be developed more, but I think he could be effective in the run game even with the rb stable in place. He's an athlete. There's more to his ability than what we have seen this year.

Our entire squad outside of Craver and KC are freshman minus Bussey. I'm guessing this is all geared towards Bussey because what else do you expect from a bunch of freshmen when KC & Craver are producing. Give these guys time to cook before claiming they are not developing!

WR Comparison. Indiana vs TAMU. All receivers with 50+ yard receiving.

Indiana: Heisman and No 1 team:

TAMU: We're not that far off from the No 1 team. But they have a few more weapons with more yards

Marcel was bad enough passing vs LSU that we basically ran the ball the entire 2nd half. He really has been bad for the last month vs SEC teams minus 2nd half vs SC. And he was awful vs Sips. He was not "fine". You're the same type who said Reed was "fine" vs Sips last year. You're loony tunes.

You're the biggest loony tune on this forum, which says a lot. And the biggest Reed hater on the planet.

This will determine how far we go. When Reed is on, we are dang near unstoppable. When he isn't, it could be a rough night
