low attendance at the lower end bowl games is nothing new.
Been that way well before the college football playoff

The Armed Forces Bowl is actually a good time, minus the quality of play on the field (sometimes there are quality games). Was lucky enough that my old company was a major sponsor, so I got to enjoy all the fun events and VIP stuff. The golf tournament they put on each year is really fun too.

Hah, one of my former employers was a sponsor as well. Our accounting manager (who was in his late 40s by the way) got so piss drunk that he crapped himself. I think the game kicked off at 10 am. I heard that his wife was far from pleased when she picked him up.

Physical attendance isn't really how any of them make money anyway. It's all about the TV. ESPN makes money on every bowl game.

That about sums it up for us (minus the BM!). Early morning kick, often times very cold...usually just stayed in the VIP areas and drank...until the after party which was another drunk fest. Usually good music and food/drink though.

One highlight from a previous year was getting to meet a Tuskegee Airman.
Also got to hear Joe Theismann speak one year. He was great!

I recall one year walking into a bathroom stall on the east side, and it was FULL of mini-liquor bottles. I couldn't even take a step without stepping on them. Most people attending were absolutely there because their employer gave them free ticket and PTO to go.

My employer sponsors a baseball team. Unsold tickets day of can be bought for like 5 bucks. We also have a big suite, tickets in the behind the plate club, and an assortment of other season tickets.
I of course don't get any of these invites when I'm in town.

OP lives in Dallas so its either ServPro First Responders bowl or Scooters Coffee Frisco Bowl, both of which look equally dogwater. My guess is the ServPro that he is referring to.

That's done by my company. Haven't seen any begging for tickets though. If they want to spring to fly us out there and put us up I'm willing to entertain customers.

Used to audit SRS back in the day….started in Tampa, then in McKinney…some people made some serious money . Couldn't believe it when I saw they were sponsoring a bowl game.
