BS, if anything Notre Dame could use it as an opportunity to prove the committee wrong. But they decided to throw a fit instead.
A&M was snubbed for Notre Dame in 2020, but there were almost no opt outs for the Orange Bowl and we won big and proved our point.
It's embarrassing for them and childish. What kind of lesson are you teaching by doing that?

Any conference commissioner that does not raise holy hell about this now is negligent at their job and should be fired. So now we somehow simultaneously have affirmative action slots for the G5 and one special carve out for a "blue blood".
What a complete **** show of incompetence. The only thing that will make this worse is if we reserve a slot for the best HBCU team. Shocked that hasn't actually been pushed.
Wow, all the whining is crazy. What they're doing makes sense. Bowls, than those incorporated in the playoffs, have become even more meaningless. Lots of players have good reasons to opt out, so the bowls are often played with a lot of 2s and 3s which while great for them, doesn't lure the fans in seats nor the eyeballs on TV. This is where we are headed.

Except it won't. Bowl games are exhibitions. This is more bad optics for ND than damaging to bowl games.

Talking about playoff selection. They are sitting out in protest of that. I both laugh at their entitlement and karma while also hoping they break the playoff selection model which hopefully also breaks the special carve out they have for themselves starting next year
Really, Iowa State and Kansas State just opted out too. The minor bowls appear to be getting the death they deserved years ago.

They lost their HCs. KSU's retired and ISU's left for Penn State. So that is more understandable.

With regard to the minor bowls, schools usually lose money on them because the schools are required to buy thousands on ****ty seats (the school's allotment) to sell to their fans while all the good seats go to sponsors. When it's a minor bowls after a disappointing season, there just isn't a whole lot of desire for fans to spend a lot of money on crappy tickets and the school ends up eating those tickets.

It's not BS. It's literally how it should be for every team. What the hell is the point of ranking teams if it doesn't mean anything?
NCAA created this flocktacular situation with early signing day in December, "opt out", insane coaching contracts and transfer whenever wherever a player wants.
Then BDF is going to double down by fining Iowa State and KState $500k?? Neither has a HC (recent hires barely had a cup of coffee yet) and KState is freaking 6-6. I would sue BDF that they are putting student-athletes in potential harm.
