I don't see any real "High Probability" possibilities where Texas A&M moves up to #6.

Way too many wins & loses have to happen across the conferences that are just not going happen
based on analyst predictions.

I think GA buries Bama in this game... We stay at 7 but should be 5/6...

I hate all of this silly speculation.
The rules for ranking should be stated prior to the start of the season!
Football is a GAME that should be settled on the field, not a beauty contest!

Remember the Aggies are not the NCAA or ESPN's prize "Brand".
Georgia and Alabama will draw much greater TV viewership ratings and TV ad dollars.

Therefore even with an Alabama win over Georgia -
--- Both will still be ranked ahead of Texas A&M.

What happens if Ohio State beats Indiana by 50 and GA beats Bama by landslide?

I would love to see Indiana and Oregon get discredited and A&M move up to 5. You could discredit Ole Miss as well. Add in a win by BYU and you never know.


My guess, even if the above occurs, the committee will keep it nearly the same.

In general, I'm not a fan of re-matches with tough teams you beat in the regular season. I'd love it if the shoe was on the other foot. Generally speaking, the team that lost is playing with a nothing to lose/revenge mentality and the winner tends to play tight/playing not to lose mentality.

I also don't like facing their running game now that they're more squared away.

As long as Texas Tech wins tomorrow - Nothing else matters...

ND is pretty much out in my opinion. There is no path for them to stay in. Once BYU wins or loses, ND gets the boot to let Miami in.

That makes total sense. I agree with you.

I think I prefer to play sips again vs Notre Dame. Especially since sips so much worse on the road.

If that musical chairs is true then why not just put Miami higher to begin with?

I mean neither team is playing so their should be no movement in relation to each other.

Yes, they will not be punished for losing, they can only go up.

OP nailed it - except forgot about the BYU beating Texas Tech scenario - where Tech stays above Aggies and BYU moves up above us to host as well.

In that case, scenario 1 becomes scenario 2 - and we host OU.

Scenario 2 puts us at number 9 team and on the road to play at new number 8 team. Possibly in Oxford. Maybr in Lubbock.

Yeah, ESPN has other thoughts on excluding ND….

At home, I feel pretty confident playing Bama or OU. It might even be good to have an authentic challenge to get the ball rolling.

I think it's interesting all the focus on the 1st round home game. We are winning that one no matter if it's OU or Bama.

The most important game of the playoff is when we meet Georgia. And my guess it's going to be the Sugar Bowl. Bring it Dawgs!

This is the game that will decide how special our season will finish!

haha. You are a good poster. You have good football knowledge. But If A&M and Texas played 10 games it would probably be 5-5 if A&M was full strength. But if we are playing that game, A&M beat Florida and the gators beat Texas. So Texas sucks! Haha

It's going to be fun no matter who it is. But what I really want is a rematch with the sips or to have a chance to expose Tech and hang like 50 on them at some point in the process. Nobody knows how this is going to shake out.
