I used to take PTO days so I could watch signing day not even 5 years ago. Now I had forgotten completely about it. I think this is partly my fanaticism level changing, but I think it has more to do with the state of CFB.
Anyone else forget it was signing day?

I have never been into it that much, I would look to see who signed with whom. But with the portal, it doesn't mean much any more. Here today, gone tomorrow!

With NIL and the transfer portal it is just hard to get excited about players that likely will be somewhere else by the end of their career.

I remembered today is early National Signing Day. Just waiting to hear the news of who signs with Texas A&M, that's all.

Now every day is signing day.
Which also means no day is actually sign day.
I don't buy the NIL Debby Downerism.
I haven't paid as much attention to recruiting because we're still in the hunt for a national championship.
Normally by now we're resigned to a middling bowl game with nothing going on with the Ags otherwise for a month. That's not the case this year.
And on top our top 10 class has been wrapped up for a while with little drama or potential last minute signings.
This is supposed to be what we all wanted in a coach for years.

7 recruits remained unsigned... for LSU.
All 4-stars and 5-stars and 6 out of 7 are defensive players.
We are not losing our DC (and we all know Elko runs the defense anyway).
Let's go hard at them and see if we can flip one or more to play in Aggieland next year!

Agree. 5th best in the SEC won't get us a championship. Hope we get some studs in the portal.

Elko has shown he can run a competent program and win games we should win. He doesn't seem to be some tactical mastermind that's going to consistently beat teams with more talent, so we need to make sure we have more talent most days
The vibes really changed when it went from Signing day in the spring to early signing day in December. So many if these kids are signing early and enrolling early, it's kind of lost it's luster

I keep seeing this posted. Maybe you keep posting it.
But I think it is misleading. Both sips and LSU were ahead of us to start the season and Notre Dame was virtually identical to us in composite talent level.
And we played all those 3 teams on the road!
We went 2-1 against them. My goodness!

Me too and I'm kinda surprised Tennessee is that high.

The best programs are pulling a smaller list of highly ranked recruits and then filling immediate needs in the portal. Recruiting rankings are higher for teams with more recruits.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
if you want to win big finish in the top 10 every year inrecruting. in a bad year you end up 9th in a good year your top 5 and a great year top 3. Do that over four years and work the portal and you will win big. we are really close. need to finish really strong on the field this year beciase 2027 recruiting looks to have the potential for one of those great years.
There used to be one Signing Day in February and no transfer portal. You were going to get who you got on that day and there was always drama leading up to it.
There was not going to be a lot of mystery surrounding our class today. These guys were locked in.

It didn't help awareness that staff decided to make the weekly recruiting reporting premium this year for the first time that I know of.
