Elko needs to do better than last time. He completely failed on his choice for DC. And on OC, I'd give that a B- at best. Go hire someone proven elite who'd be a A hire.

Yeah. I mean we could barely stay in the top 3 for most of the year. Now we have to host a home game in the playoffs. Big fail.

Uh... Elko is the DC now. He calls the plays. Your post is not logical.

Wow. Napier would be intriguing

I think Elko is over his skis trying to be HC/CEO and the DC. It's not ideal.

Nobody on here knows whether Wiggins will be good or not. If Elko (and hopefully with Klein's input) believes it's the route to take, then it's probably well thought out. He knows what is at stake.

Going out and money whipping a big name can also be a failure a la chief. We were certain we had hit the jackpot and our defense ended up being terrible.

can't be Kevin Johns. At Indiana he was promoted internally to playcaller after being there for a few years and the experts on here said that isn't possible.

We're 11-1 and this place is as bad or worse than when we're 7-5.

The amount of idiocy on this thread is amazing to see. Elko has a team in the playoffs in his 2nd season and some say he is failing. Me thinks if Elko decides on Wiggins then it is probably a good decision.

No. He isn't failing. Things are improving. In many ways, drastically.

But when all of those wins (sans Notre Dame) are from the cellar of the SEC, and the only real test was Texas, in which A&M, once again, crumbled at big scary Texas...then yeah...

Today's winner for the General Board Burrito Lottery is:

Florida wasn't a real test? They beat tu. Falling down to USCe so much and coming back wasn't a real test? Clearing LSU out of their own stadium at night wasn't a real test? Doing the same to Mizzou in their house wasn't a real test?

"real tests" aren't only your end of season top 25 wins. I guarantee Indiana viewed beating Penn St as a real test.

Yep, all that and we're the worst 1 loss team in America apparently. God I hate the committee.

Also just becuase they are failed as HC doesn't mean they can't run a good offense. KK for example.

Chip Kelly just got fired for being an awful OC

I'm not one of these fans that says "trust the coach" no matter what but I think its safe to say Elko has information and intel on Wiggins that we don't and he thinks he can get it done. Elko wants to win badly here. He's not going to hire a guy he is doubtful on.

And how did that turn out, at Indiana, 10 years ago? And what's he been doing since he left Duke after '23?

Holmon Wiggins has been heavily involved with this offense and its development into what it has become this year. This year's offense and last years are night and day different. If you like what you have and want to continue with it with some tweaks as to what Wiggins might want to do a bit differently, I have no problem with it. However, it doesn't surprise me that the group think on this post doesn't like it because it's too easy to **** on it than it is to think about it with logic and common sense.

Obviously Elko has known that his OC was heading to a HC position soon. Would not be surprised if Wiggins was groomed for the potential OC role

On the other hand, Napier might be worth a look...

I think promoting Holmon Wiggins to offensive coordinator is a great choice because he is already the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. This year's offense and wide receivers group was much better than last year and is the reason we scored 31+ points in 7 of 9 games against Power 4 teams and 6 of 8 games against SEC teams.

Evidently word on the street is we are promoting a guy who has never called plays before. Bold move

I think I would choose another adjective for the move, rather than "bold".

How about "Typical Aggie" move. In other words, we go out and find the first guy we can, as fast as we can, offer big bucks and bring him in..... all in spite of the fact he has no SEC play-calling experience, no experience with top-tier teams who have won division/conference/national championships.

Of course another word comes to mind as well "Stupid" move.

Georgia hired Kirby Smart, who had never been a head coach before. Just saying.

Yep, so did we.... Elko's experience at Duke for 1 year in no way garners the accolade of "head coach experience". Also, Kirby had even more important experience... that of learning at the feet of Saban (priceless). Just sayin'

Seems like we've heard that line before......."if you like what you have" then you can keep it. Ring any bells ? Think "hope and change", which is where we are now......... we have to change OC, and we better hope it's as good (preferably better) as what we have now.

Being a head coach is the literal definition of head coaching experience. Whether or not it was a sufficient amount is debatable.

The offense is "night and day different" because we got two superstar receivers off the TP, and because Marcel is in his second year. Concluding that Wiggins is the reason is baseless poppycock. Your post is neither logical nor sensible.
