I hate losing the tu game. However, I'm very proud of this team and look forward to the playoffs.

Keep in mind this is Coach Elko's second season, really 1.5 when you take into account the hiring timeframe.

His third recruiting class looks promising, as do future years.

I doubt anyone on this board would have predicted hosting a playoff game when the season started.

Let's enjoy the ride for how long the season goes and see how the future unfolds. I think we're on a good path going forward.

The order of success in college football as I'd imagine the majority of fans now see it is:
1. Win the NC
2. Make the playoffs
3. Win your conference
4. Make a bowl game

And the gap in importance between 2 and 3 is widening. the CCG is looking more and more like a liability than a benefit. Going on the road to face another really good team then getting a bye week doesn't sound much more appealing than getting an early bye week during the CCG week, then getting to play lesser competition at home.

Most threads here would put "Beat Rival" ahead of playoffs and Natty

Agree. If it was up to me, I'd cancel the CC games and go to a 16 team playoff with no byes.

Truth.
After the meltdowns on here screaming the season is over, if a man didn't know better he'd think it was. The real fun is just starting. The rest was just to get here. The Ags are 1 of 12 teams getting a chance to play for all the marbles. That's pretty damn exciting.

Winning the conference guarantees the playoff and likely a bye. Beating your rival guaranteed a shot at the conference. It wasn't just a loss to a rival, as unacceptable as it is to lose to texas.

Idc about losing to Texas. Idc about winning a conference championship. I want a national championship pure and simple. I'll lose to Texas 100 times if if means we win 100 national championships.

Honestly, the way this year's accomplishments will feel absolutely hinges on what happens next.

Will we see a prepared and capable team in the 1st round of the playoffs? Will the team stop shooting themselves in the foot? Will the defense be assignment sound ALL game? Will we see interceptions?

I consider lsu a huge rival, 99% as much as cow, and that great road win offsets the s-show of a loss in last game. POd? F yeah, but not overly or moreso than any other loss. With perspective it's just another big game.

Nobody should ever put one singular game as a priority, though you certainly want to win that game as part of a path to larger goals.

Goals are:

Bowl eligible.
Qualify for CFP.
Win Conference.
Win NC.

In that order, winning conference is higher than qualifying for CFP as it comes with champ. hardware. You can lose to a rival or any particular game and still accomplish any/all of those goals.

Many SEC teams have 2 primary rivals, and we should adopt that line of thinking also for cow and lsu IMHO.

Who cares about the "perspective" on the season at this point as everything changes in a few weeks anyway? Win the first playoff and the seasonal perspective looks much differently than it does now, same for if we lose the first playoff game.

Going 11-2 by pre season perspectives would be amazing. Going 11-2 by November 27 perspectives? Another choke.

The word unacceptable suggests you have an option on accepting it. You do not!!!

More perspective...

Sark at Texas.....13-12 in the Big 12
Elko at TAMU…..19-6 in the SEC

Last Saturday sucked for Aggie fans but if you take a step back, we are absolutely on the right track with Elko. Let's regroup and make some hay in the CFP now.
