Winner of ACC title game, perhaps, could jump us as well as Bama.

You cannot seriously be so stupid as to believe that.

Peoples inability to rank teams consistently astounds me. Crazy recency bias having A&M as the worst 1-loss team in that bunch. We literally have the best strength of record of any of these teams. We are 11-1 despite having a really strong Strength of Schdule. I know our SEC schedule didnt turn out to be the toughest - but believe it or not, sheduling Notre Dame in out of conference does a TON to boost our strength of schedule.

Quit trying to Powerank teams - These should be rankings based on merit. Quit with the recency bias and evaluate each of 12 data points equally - not just the most recent one. Its unquestionable A&M deserves to be a top 5 team.

Danny Kanell dropped us to #11 in his assessment, so hopefully there are not too many like minded CFP committee members.
FWIW, Kanell is a troll and is very knowledgeable of which fanbases are large, loud, and thirsty. He has made a career out of hot takes. A&M looked bad on Friday, but no rationale person thinks A&M is on the level with BYU and Virginia.

Does the committee rank again on Tuesday or do they wait till after this coming Saturday?

If we are 6th seed, when is that game played

12/19 or 12/20

  • Friday, Dec. 19
    • 8 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN, WatchESPN
  • Saturday, Dec. 20:
    • 12 p.m. on ABC, ESPN, WatchESPN
    • 3:30 p.m. on TNT, truTV, HBO Max
    • 7:30 p.m. on TNT, truTV, HBO Max
I wonder if ABC/ESPN get to choose their matchups? Do they go with highest fanbase/audience or best match ups?? Hmmm.

Not if they are matched against Oregon.

So they most likely will seed Oregon 6. Another reason to seed A&M 5.

They can easily adjust seeds for TV. That's why some think they are going to put Tech 4, A&M 5.

They can do whatever they want, but most likely on Tuesday we will be behind Oregon.

6th is fine. Play Virginia in Kyle.

We would for sure get put to seven if Kiffin wasn't leaving. I suspect that we will end up at six and play Miami or Virginia (no way they have us play ND again), and then that puts us in for a likely match up with Tech in the quarterfinals assuming no upsets in the championship games. Also, no way we pass Oregon to 5 because they have a better loss (IU) versus our loss.

My question is, if we do get matched up with Tech in the quarterfinals, is there any way that we're playing at the Cotton Bowl?

I don't think there's any world where Miami gets in. The winner of the ACC will get in. Unless the winner is Duke and maybe nobody from the ACC gets in.

If the favorites win their respective conference championship Games, I am predicting the following seeds.

1. 13-0 Big 10 Champion Ohio State
2. 12-1 SEC Champion Georgia
3. 12-1 Big 10 Runner-Up Indiana
4. 12-1 Big 12 Champion Texas Tech
5. 11-1 Oregon
6. 11-1 Texas A&M
7. 11-1 Ole Miss
8. 10-2 Oklahoma
9. 10-2 Notre Dame
10. 10-3 Alabama
11. 11-2 ACC Champion Virginia
12. 11-2 AAC Champion North Texas for the Group of 5 CFP Spot

Absolutely nobody from the ACC is passing us. It's recognized as an extremely weak conference this year.

The world I see this in is one where UVA loses and there is still an "at-large" bid because Duke doesn't qualify, so the committee makes a concession to let Miami in to the ACC. The ACC WILL have a representative in the playoff. I don't think the playoff committee has the balls to leave them out.

However, Kiffin leaving Ole Miss will move them back to the lowest 1-loss team.

I hope this is the case. Massive difference between playing UVA in first round instead of OU or Bama

I agree with this, however Indiana may drop below 3 if OSU blows them out.

Even with a blowout, Indiana still gets a bye.

Agree, but Tech may go to 3 and IU to 4.

Handling Tech and BYU, Bama and Georgia are keys to the final seeds. BYU and Bama winning Saturday knocks 1 2 loss team out. OU or ND. If tech is safely in, I think the standings tonight will be:

OSU, Indiana, Georgia, Tech
Oregon, Aggies, Ole Miss, ou,
ND, Bama, ACC, G5.

If Georgia and Tech win, switch Georgia and Indiana, otherwise no changes.

If Bama and Tech win, it could change a lot:

OSU, Indiana, Tech, Georgia,
Oregon, Aggies, Bama, Ole Miss
ND, ou, Virginia, G5

Matchups:
We host Virginia with winner playing Tech at the Cotton Bowl.
Ole Miss hosts ND winner playing Ohio St
Bama hosts ou, winner vs Indiana.
Oregon hosts g5 winner vs Georgia.

I'll take a 6 seed vs Virginia please and thank you.

Yep, The match up strongly favors TAMU. And its likely you'd have to run your starters at 100% for only the 1st half. This keeps your team hot while reducing the injury risk by half.

This is a game of momentum and heath. Best of both.

That would make more sense, but ESPN analysts Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach
both have Ohio State at No. 1 and Indiana at No. 2.

There's not smart large bid in that scenario.

The 5 highest ranked conference champs get in so if duke wins that spot will go to James Madison

Ohio st
UGA
Tech
James Madison
Tulane

The acc gets left out in tgst scenarios

The only way they could get the acc in would be to rank Miami over notre dame ir bama and drop nd or bama out

That's why this wells rankings will be telling

If we see Miami move up past Utah and byu then the committee could be planning for that

OSU or Indiana will lose again and become a 1-loss

Georgia could become a 2-loss or Bama a 3-loss

Ole Miss likely to drop too.

All good things that could boost our seed away from 7.

Sure is nice to be having conversation about our team and playoff seeding.

No big surprise tonight, predicting:

1-Ohio state
2-Indiana
3-Georgia
4-Tech
5-Oregon
6-Ole Miss
7-A&M
8-OU
9-Bama
10-Notre Dame

Personally, I'd go:

1-Ohio state
2-Indiana
3-Georgia
4-A&M
5-Tech
6-Oregon
7-Ole Miss
8-OU
9-Bama
10-Miami
