Why couldn't we get open downfield?

There were plenty of snaps where marcel had a clean pocket and time. Couldn't tell from t v if we were covered or Marcel didn't see them.
Texas didn't fear Reeds arm in 10-15 mph swirling winds.

A lot of time texas was sitting back in deep zone, and our OL couldn't block the 4-5 rushers. Every throw was into coverage and our playcalling was trash

Reed needs to takeoff and scramble about a half second sooner. He waits too long and the field closes down. Multiple times he had green pasture in front of him, held the ball too long waiting for a receiver and then missed his window to takeoff. Arch took it as soon as he saw it.

Defense:

No pressure. Offenses are allowing Howell to run himself out of the play, allowing qb to step up or step to the side. No threat of blitzing or few blitz looks and dropping out. Horns eat in the middle of the field, deep crosses, Georgia took this away along with bringing a LB or two and got into arches head. Elko stubborn or scared...both I believe and gutless.

Offense:

Klien left the better back on the sideline. Perhaps daddy was in their ear again, Owen's isnt that great. Let him transfer. Bussey is MIA, should be a Reggie Bush type player in the backfield and slot.

Morrow out the backfield absent.
No middle screens
HUNH tempo will OCs learn there is a time for this other than against the clock.

Now: offenses that were light years better:
Florida
Vandy
Arkansas
Kentucky ran the ball and controlled the game

Let that sink in

Hyper focused on not letting Arch get loose on scrambles. You see it on the replays, safety makes a decision a let's the wr or te go.

This. The breakdowns started up front. We never adjusted to close the wide open lane we were giving Arch. DBs had to cover WRs and spy the QB. Like it or not, Arch is way too talented to allow that much freedom.

We made Gomer Pyle look like Superman. He's an average college quarterback.

Agree, but he's better than Reed.

This. Arch is looking to scramble. Reed is looking to pass. Arch knows his strength. Marcel doesn't.

Scrambling should be the last option. Scrambling quarterbacks don't last long. How many tackles do you think reeds 180 lb frame can take?

That's why you slide like Arch does. He rarely takes hits when he scrambles.

Honestly, just watch the Arkansas tape against us, and you've figured out our defense.

A&M had everything and everyone accounted for on passing downs except Arch. Aggie assumed correctly that Texas didn't want to risk Arch to injury, especially early in the game and the short passing game was covered up.
Then Arch started taking off and was generally good for 8-20 yards per carry.
Notice that he didn't put his head down and take on tacklers (which he is prone to do) and he always slid rather than take contact. He is much bigger than he appears (6'4", 230+) but the Texas coaches didn't want him a mangled piece of jello at the end of the game...

Reed has thrown 6 interceptions in his last four SEC games

2 vs. LSU
2 vs. Carolina
2 vs. t.u.

that's way too many

throw in the lost fumble vs. Carolina...and that's 7 turnovers

Reed's garbage when he stays in the pocket. Holds the ball way too long and then decides to run way too late. What the **** is Klein doing trying to make dual threat QB stay in a collapsing pocket until the very end? Why is he running straight into the strength of the Texas defense , between the tackle, 5 times in a row? Why is he calling a 40 yard fade on 3rd and 1 at a crucial time in the game? He did the same **** last year and it cost us that game. I can't be the only person who believes this guy is a HORRIBLE OC and needs to go and probably before the playoffs start.

Now the defense. WTF is Elko doing? No spy on Arch, very few full out blitzes on 3rd and long. DB's were playing 8-10 yards off their WR's in passing situations, LB's were absent 90% of the time and safeties are letting "play makers" stand all alone in the back of the endzone 30 yards down field. WTF was the game plan? Conservative on both sides of the ball?? The least aggressive we've played all year. Inexcusable display and complete embarrassment for the program and to us fans, who fell for this **** once again.

lol….fire everybody. Get a grip. They're 11-1. Unfortunately the team and coaches had their worst game last night. It happens. Regroup and play like they're capable of and let's see what happens. Getting Moss back will be huge. I'm still firmly in the boat. Let's go.

Our offense cost us this game. We need to fix that one in the next three weeks. Moss being back will help. Klein has a history of calling bad games against Texas for whatever reason. He also had issues at Kansas State.
Everybody keeps saying Moss will be back, he's been off for what, 6 weeks? To think he will come in and suddenly dominate is ridiculous and that's IF he comes back. It's obvious, we can't rely on Moss at this point.

RB wise, Owens needs to learn to run with a little bit more "Moss" power. He always lets the first contact slow him up or take him down. Moss reminds me of the power backs Bama had a few years back (or Love at Notre Dame); first hit isn't going to take those guys down. Owens repeatedly came up a yard short on runs for the marker. Frankly, I thought Smith should've had more playing time.

Thought the same thing. Owens was on skates all night. Smith stays lower to the ground.

Owens needs to take ballet lessons or something that helps with balance and footing. This happened all season crappy turf or not.

We need to upgrade the LB spots. York is a good player and team leader, he is not a top flight SEC LB, he wouldn't even get on the field at UGA. Sanford played well but Scooby is better.

DL and DBs played well overall. We haven't had an elite LB since Cooper left.

My expectations this year was 9-3, so 11-1 is great, but I would have felt 1000% better if it was a Notre Dame loss of another sec game and not texas.
