I'll start with some run stuffing DT's. Yes, linebackers hitting the right gaps would help, but having some better DT's would make things a lot easier against the run. The freshman DT's may end up being pretty good, but they aren't ready yet. I think they also need to go find a safety. Elko's defense demands a lot from the safeties, and the last 2 years of safety play have been bad to meh. Brooks is okay, but they need someone to beat out Ratcliffe and Anderson. What else do they need?

Bisontis is a junior and Nabou is a RS sophomore.

Someone who can kick a field goal.

An offensive coordinator who doesn't eff up calls in big games.

Need corners and safety help as Dezz Ricks is an automatic PI 3 or 4 times a game.
Need bigger more physical linebackers.
Need bigger and stronger DL.
Need a kicker in the worst way imaginable.
Need more OL as we lose most of this group.
Need a speedburner at WR as Concepcion is likely going to the NFL this year.
Need a big bruiser of a fullback/tailback that can repeatedly get us short yardage when needed.
Need an OC who doesn't call a rb backwards pass on 3rd and goal from the 1 nor calls a 40 yard pass on 3rd and 2.

I am guessing the Covid Super Senior option is not available
Personally I would want as many guys as possible back this is a good enough unit and can't have too many experienced lineman

I know it's been said, but an elite kicker. I want to win the Natty so bad this year but genuinely think it's out of reach without a decent FG/special teams kicker

Bisontis is a junior and Nabou is a RS sophomore. Pay the money to keep Bisontis another year and go get a center in the portal so that Nabou can play right guard. Bourdon is probably your starting LT. He played quite a bit this season and looked decent. The question is RT. Will Lamont Rodgers, or somebody else, be ready? Or do they go to the portal there?

Bisontis is highly rated for NFL by some services…depends on his projection and want we'll pay to get him to stay.

Experienced OL and DTs will be in a need for sure.

Unfortunately York isn't going to go anywhere. Coaching staff loves his leadership but he isn't a great player. Sanford I thought was better honestly. We need a few DLs and again I like Brooks and Ratcliffe but they aren't elite safeties.

He can't cover a TE at all as lacks speed. When he guesses correctly or has the proper pre read due to film study, is when he excrls

I think Lockhart and Mickhail have high ceilings. Mikhail started making some plays at the end of this season. Lockhart needs to take that next step starting next year. Finding a good linebacker with speed in the portal would help out a lot.

Need shutdown defensive backs and someone to coach them. Our DB's never know where the ball is. They play chase rather than read, react, and intercept. Middle Linebackers that cover sideline to sideline. Safeties are ask to do way too much in the run stop category. Beyond that we need to have a coach that will have the team hungry and ready to play from the opening kickoff. The worst losses come when you know you are better than what you saw on the field and that you lost because of lack of hustle and you were not ready to play.

Honestly, there is not a position that we shouldn't try to improve.

Agreed. Our eligible 3-tech DTs will be UDFAs in the next NFL draft. York too. It's obvious that you cant run 4-2-5 all the time when you're getting gashed in the run game like A&M has this yr. Portal DTs are a must. Hopefully the 2025 FR DTs and D. Evans can produce next year.

As for the playoffs, at least mix in some 50 fronts with a NG on 1st & 2nd down to help the safeties out with the run game.

You have to believe that 1-2 of the guys below lost in the portal would've helped the run defense this yr and allowed Elko to use more 50 fronts with a NG & bigger DEs. Elko will adapt and get the roster he needs to fix the problem next year.

Been saying this all year and getting **** on for it. Our LBs are simply not good. They are nice kids and wish them well, but that doesn't change the fact that they hurt our DBs and our DL simultaneously because they can't get the fundamentals right. So many times they just can't fill the right gap or get run out of the middle with poor eye discipline. They are also way too slow.

Half the defense needs to be replaced. Mostly borderline 3-stars at the moment.

Moss is an absolute stud. We really missed him last night. He can run inside gap/zone, outside zone, he can catch, he can block and he can rack up the YAc. He and hardy for mizzou are the two best RBs in conference when healthy.

Maybe we need to petition the SEC to schedule the sips the first weekend of the season instead of the last. All of our backs have proven similar skills although the case could easily be made he has the best complete package. IMHO it had more to do with playcalling vs who was available.

When healthy is a pretty big if. Would it help if I had said we need a back who can stay healthy the whole year and be so much better than the other backs that they play 80% off the time? Not really too much to ask. And next year Moss is gone so we still need a back out of the portal.
