Of course, like any gameday week, I'm nervous for my Ags to pull out a win but this week feels different, and it's undeniably important.

Looking back through the history of this matchup, trying to find similar team DNA and comparisons, there are almost none in recent memory.
  • 1992: tu favored by 1 point A&M won 34-13 (Austin)
  • 1994: tu favored by 3 points A&M won 34-10 (Austin)
  • 2006: tu favored by 14 points A&M won 12-7 (Austin)
  • 2010: tu favored by 3 points A&M won 24-17 (Austin)
  • 2011: A&M favored by 8 points lost 27-25 (BCS)
  • 1997: A&M favored by 7 points won 27-16 (BCS)
Every other year tu was favored and won: 1990, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2024.

The 2010 and 1994 games weren't great comparisons - A&M was ranked while tu was struggling, so those matchups were lopsided.

In 1992, A&M entered Austin ranked #4, rushed for three TDs by Rodney Thomas, added a pick-six, and cruised to a 34-13 win. A&M finished 121 that year; tu ended 66. This 2025 tu squad is better though.

The last time both teams were highly ranked and A&M was favored? 1975 in BCS.

So no matter how you slice it, this game is historic.

A&M is favored in Austin, riding an undefeated season, while tu sits as a top-15 program. This will be a game for the ages - one of the biggest in the rivalry's history.

And this time, there's no way tu can knock us out of the national title chase.

2025 will be the biggest showdown between these programs since 1975, and the strongest team A&M has ever fielded going into Austin - far more balanced than the 2006, 2010 teams, ranking top 20 in both offense and defense. While the 1990's teams had the slight edge in terms of physical defenses, they didn't compare at all to the explosive potential of the 2025 offensive attack.

2025 Texas A&M football team will be the best to ever walk out onto the field in Austin, TX.

The last time both teams were highly ranked and A&M was favored? 1975 #2 A&M vs #5 tu showdown at Kyle Field. tu pulled the upset, 20-10, crushing A&M's national title hopes.

I'm looking into now - and suspect you maybe right... but AI is confused and telling me A&M was the dog by 1pt. (not sure the source - likely espn equilvalent)

Correction - it is (2) times - 1992 and 2025.

That team was 11-0, ranked #4, and favored by 7 points to win in Austin.
