If there was ever a game in which a team appeared to take a dive it was Razorbacks in Austin.

The QB and the Defense seemed to give up after the first quarter, and the shuffle pass interception looked bad.
The WWE belt on the sideline said it all.

Looked like a parlay for Auntie Jean.

I dunno, but they're absolute losers. I hope they continue to struggle and we eventually start beating them more handily than now.

How could you tell if a bad team with an interim washed coach and a backup QB took a dive?

Remember how bad our Sumlin defenses were tired and worn thin by the end of the year because our offense scored quickly and kept them on the field?

That's Arkansas X 2. They're done.

Oh, and they had 1 RB left with game experience and multiple WRs out. And still played tu close in the first half.

I guess a lot of you guys don't actually watch any of these games at all. Luckily for me you people also bet on them so I'm able to get tu at -8.5 and collect my free money.

It would be pretty beneficial to us to play ark at the end of the year instead of beggining like we usually do

Once they knew the refs were in the tank for the sips they gave up.

Someone said this recently… I can't remember where I heard it but I think it rings true. Arkansas hates Texas more than they like themselves. Blame their inept secondary but they didn't dive.

Going forward, we aren't going to play them that often. sips play them every year, so I want them to get a lot better.

Looks like bad teams behave similarly just like UF vs Tenn...results are similar to Arkey vs ut@austin...

Arkey and FL did their best earlier in the season but in waning days, their team capitulated

Did Taylen Green get hurt, or did they pull him because he was playing poorly?

Arkie didn't dive. They are just really really bad. And coached by an interim guy way past his prime who knows he's not getting the job next year.

They hoped for a bounce after firing Pittman. They almost got the bounce when they played us. But now the ball is flat.

Arkansas fans may hate Texas that badly, but the Arkansas players probably don't care. They're all at Arkansas not because of the love of the school or the hatred for another school, but because of opportunities and NIL payments. With the athletes being strictly (and legally) professional these days, kids aren't picking schools because of where their parents went or because of rooting interest. They're picking based on where they can get the best financial situation. Something like two-thirds of the Arkansas roster has played football at some other school that has nothing to do with animosity toward the Longhorns.

And this isn't unique to the Hogs. It's consistent across the board from school to school. Rivalries these days are strictly for the fans. They players just want to perform, get paid, and prep themselves for the NFL.

Naa, they choked.

It's a fair point but the supporters wouldn't put up with it . in this case maybe that doesn't matter because of the zombie coaching staff but the AD would care because if supporters pull funding you are a dead man yourself as AD. Also players who want more NIL funds or maybe have a shot at next level don't want it on video. They just got beat imo.

Agreed. Arkansas lost because they're terrible and Texas is pretty good.

My point was that rivalries just aren't what they used to be to the players. For example, I know Reed certainly wants to win this week, but growing up in Nashville to you think he was raised on hatred for the Longhorns?

They said he was "hurt" but the timing of him being pulled after one of the worst turnovers I've ever seen seems suspicious. His poor IQ turnovers have been killing Arkansas' chances lately even for as many crazy plays he makes too.

Arky lost because their _efense sucks giant donkey balls. They didn't lose on purpose.
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Your'e absolutely right . Reed will have to acquire a distaste for them. In that sense having a fair number of in state players certainly helps to instill that rivalry concept and help it have some level of meaning.

Something else related to your comments imo. It drives home the importance of having a head coach and staff that build the right culture so that the players care about results, one another , and pride in team (and therefore school) . Clearly not the case with current Arky (or LSU or Florida) teams and so that does take some edge off their performance but not to the level of tanking imo.

That doesn't necessarily mean all the guys on the field feel the same way as Billy bob in his recliner does.
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah. We touched on that in the thread and I agree to some degree. That doesn't = tanking tho.

It's not Billy Bob in the recliner that matters for sure but donors matter and they care. Granted they are in transition phase at the moment and Petrino knows he's not getting the gig so probably about as low a level of focus as you can get as a team.

They tanked hiring Pittman. The firing is merely a tourniquet not resurrection…

Sark said that the day before the game. I sent it to an arky friend who said: That's probably right.

Arkansas lost by double digits because their defense allowed 45 offensive points (the other 7 came from a fumble return), and they lost the turnover margin 2 to 0. But they did not quit even after trailing 2-23 with 11:30 left. Arkansas scored the last 14 points of the game to make the final score look more respectable. Without the turnovers, the game might have been closer. Our season finale at Texas could end up being a shootout.

1. We scored 31+ points in 7 of our 8 games against Power 4 teams, including 6 of 7 SEC games. The only exception was a 16-10 home win over Auburn.

2. Texas allowed 31+ points in regulation in each of their last 4 games: 38 to Mississippi State, 31 to Vanderbilt, 35 to Georgia, and 37 to Arkansas.

3. We allowed 30+ points 3 times: 40 (33 offensive points and 7 coming from a blocked punt to Notre Dame), 42 to Arkansas, and 30 (23 offensive points and 7 from a fumble return) to South Carolina in the first half

4. Texas scored 34+ points in regulation in 3 of their last 4 games: 38 (31 offensive and 7 from a punt return) against Mississippi State, 34 against Vanderbilt, and 52 (45 offensive and 7 from a fumble return) against Arkansas.

Hopefully, we beat Texas to secure our first-ever SEC Championship Game appearance.

it is hard to believe that Arkansas is 2-9

Pittman's worst season was 4-8

the Hogs have lost 33 games in the past 5 seasons
