Watching Haynes King play last night reflected about talented player that did not move from running to thrower.

He's a runner first thrower second which results in time consuming drives which end up in losses when the team falls behind.

And yet he's the main reason his team has been winning. Happy he's been successful there and happy Reed is our QB.

This was known prior to last night but he is one of the main reasons Tech has won a ton of games

Haynes King is a dawg. If he never takes a snap at the next level he will remian a dawg. Love that kid.

I was at the Tech game and it was heartbreaking to watch. He's done more for that team this year than anyone else in recent history. We're going to the Ga-Ga Tech game to continue to support the team. I hope he gets at least one more phenomenal game to close out his college career. Two great games would be amazing.

haynes king is a really good college player. he has improved year over year and he leads his team well. their success is based primarily on king this season.

HK is a LEGEND at GT. Yes its GTech so you can discount that. But his name and identity will be remembered for decades there because he did what no other GT QB could do and stayed with his team when other QBs bounce around for higher paychecks and higher profile programs.

Tech defense needed to do more
Lots of blame to go around

If Tech forces a couple of field goals instead of touch down after touch down after touchdown HK probably finds a way to win the game

That 100 yd pick 6, when it looked like they were about to cut the lead to 7, was just a back breaker.

Haynes has undoubtedly had an amazing career at Tech, but unfortunately back-breaking turnovers at the most inopportune moments have been a thing. The UGA fumble last year was an absolute killer

I love Haynes. He is a dawg. But you just cannot run a QB at this level of football the way GT does. Even if he does not get seriously hurt he is banged up so much at the end of the season it hurts his play. The ACC is not as physical of a league as the SEC. But it is still D1 football with some real dudes on defense. When your offense has so many designed QB runs it is hard to develop a guy as a passing QB. I know coaches are paid to win. But I wish Haynes could have been developed more as a passer in their offense.

Haynes' first year at GT they were throwing the ball all over the place. Tons of yards and TDs, but the problem was that he's just a turnover machine. Good coaching resulted in dialing back his passing attempts and taking advantage of his legs. There's just always going to be diminishing returns with Haynes as a passer

Good luck to the young man, but I don't miss him at all.
Same w/ Weigman.
Fine young men, good QB's, but neither were of SEC quality.

Weigman having the same issues at UH. They had a chance to be really good, but he isn't helping in the big games

I like Haynes King and am glad to see him having nationally-recognized success at a P4 program. However, it is a bit disingenuous to praise him for "staying with his team" when he just transferred in two years ago.

GT is a single game script type of team - the road to winning for them is narrow. Considering their history, this has been an incredible season for that team.

I'd rank the former A&M QBs the following:

Haynes King, A+
Connor Weigman, B+
Zach Calzada, C-

I'd give old man Calzada an F- just from that last video he published about counting his money. I couldn't tell if he was trying to sound ghetto or autistic.

The biggest issue w/ King wasn't his legs vs his arm it was his inability to protect the football. Up until last year, he was a turn over just waiting to happen. He always has had grit and some talent - GT only started to excel with him under center after he matured and became smarter with the ball.

Holy cow, I missed a big one. I was watching the Vandy game and saw this great playmaker tight end named Stowers. I thought, didn't we used to have a QB named Eli Stowers? Turns out, it's him. He went to Vandy, became a tight end and he's now one of their top players.

Kudos to him.

Don't forget Jaylen Henderson at West Virginia. Though in the interest of giving grades, probably have to give him an 'incomplete'

He actually went to NM State first then transferred to Vandy along with the QB from NM State, Pavia.

If you include Henderson, you need to include Max Johnson @ UNC.

Haynes (and his father) know a bit of football. I figured they chose GT because of the run tendencies. They know his strengths and I think they chose the perfect fit. He is doing what he did at Longview HS. Yes that comes with injury risk at the D1 level but they knew that too. I don't think it was an accident he ended up where he is. Given the other possible options (the service academies maybe?) he is in a good spot.

Lots of inaccurate assumptions here although we both agree that Haynes ended up in a great spot to maximize his talents

#1 - Haynes was not primarily a runner at LHS, averaging < 4 carries per game

#2 - Tech doesn't run triple option anymore. OC Buster Faulkner came up under the Air Raid and runs a hybrid pro-style offense
