Looks like ESipN is calling a sip victory based upon their projections for who makes the SEC Championship game. Their odds are putting Bama and UGA ahead of A&M for Atlanta.

So they are calling a Aggie loss to the bovines.

Not sure bulletin board material is necessary for the game, but if respect means anything then this means something.

This is terrible! ESPN has never been wrong about predictions involving t.u.

ESPN is desperately pushing their FPI as the source for all of this even though it's a complete joke and has been completely wrong all year

How many games has ESiPN called for A&M to lose this season?

I think at least 3, maybe 4.

We just need to keep proving them wrong.

I no longer take ESiPN fpi scores/ranking seriously.
People of integrity expect to be believed, when they're not, they let time prove them right.

This is like a poker tell. They want Alabama Georgia and what they want they usually get. Refs have their marching orders now.

They are not predicting sips to win. They had A&M at a 52% chance to make the SECCG, which is essentially our odds to beat Texas. If we lose, by far the most likely matchup is bama-Georgia, which is why they had that matchup at 38% likelihood. If you add up the next two most likely scenarios -- A&M vs bama and A&M vs Georgia -- they add up to 52%, making it more likely than not that we make the SECCG according to espn.

I just checked, and it is a day ending in Y, so yes, they will choose the Austin boys over whoever they are playing.

This! They are using their stupid FPI that is heavily weighted in recruiting rankings and discounts what has actually happened in an almost full season of play.

Esipn has been pimping a tu win for at least two weeks. They are and have been heavily invested in tu since the world famous and hugely successful longhorn network.

They were basing that based on the last team A&M, Georgia, and Alabama plays. Georgia is playing Georgia Tech and Alabama is playing Auburn so yes, A&M playing a higher ranked team at their home is a lower probability than those others.

Just win and stop listening to selected statistical models.

ESPN is part of a corporation that seeks to generate revenue. The Texas fanbase brings views, so unsubstantiated claims of their "greatness" bring clicks and views.

ESPN had a separate and unique business relationship with the sips for many years. Along with any on-camera sip athlete "talent" that works for them, I'm quite sure they have hired a lot of production and behind-the-camera sip grads, including the ones that work to put together the FPI or write the copy the mouthpieces regurgitate on the air.

I mean you don't really think Herbie, etc. actually research anything do you? And yes, I know Herbie is a Marcel Reed fan. But is that more because he had a personal relationship with him?

Just wait till you hear Heather Dinich's thoughts. Mind you, she is an INDIANA GRAD. You have to do better ESPN. This is ridiculous horse ****

3. Texas A&M Aggies (11-0)

Why they could be here: It's not because they manhandled Samford, an overmatched 1-11 FCS team. It's mostly because the Aggies are clinging to a 41-40 win at No. 9 Notre Dame, the highlight of their undefeated rsum. The Nov. 8 win at Mizzou, which came when Tigers starting quarterback Beau Pribula was sidelined with an injury, is a borderline top-25 win that was devalued somewhat on Saturday by Mizzou's loss to Oklahoma. Texas A&M still leads the nation in ESPN's strength of record metric, which gives the average top 25 team just a 2.2% chance of achieving the same undefeated record against the same opponents.

1)Pribula isnt better
2)The Ags also have injuries but we cant give us any credit
3)We didnt play 2 RBs
4)We only play 1st string 1 full quarter
5)We beat Mizzou at their home and better than OU
6)SOR matters or it was claimed to have been until we win it
7)We are the number one team in the SEC. It will NOT be 1 and 2 big10 in the championship

is the FPI the one that takes into account which team is a "blue blood", ie, which team will be protected by refs when it gets close in the fourth? Or allow the fans to revolt and force play stoppage until they get their way?

Yeah, I fully expect our team to have to outplay the zebras too. Tough game but I think this team gets it done.

The amount of trauma ESPN's FPI has caused people on this board has gone from slightly annoying to downright hilarious. How many threads have been posted about this each week?

These are ESPN's FPI rankings as of today. If you're upset about these rankings and can't see how stupid they are, you're as dumb as ESPN is.

They did that with Kirby when sip played Georgia at home last year.

Kirby still hasn't gotten over that, and now proceeds to thrash them, followed up with a few insults after each game.

Esipn isnt doing tu any favors. This isn't the Big 12 lol.

Is this the same thing as the SOR metric that we were told the committee would use as their major metric for ranking playoff teams? Must not be as we are sitting at the three spot behind the defending national champs and this year's cinderella story and alma mater of a basketball school person who has never played a game of football in HER life.

TOTALLY legit IMO...

Notre Dame at 3 when we beat them is hot garbage. ESPN is worthless besides being the channel we have to watch most games on.

Once you understand the FPI algorithm (as best we can), things become clearer. It uses recruiting rankings and programs' historical performances and rankings. Very subjective stuff. Knowing that the "E" in ESPN stands for "entertainment", they can tilt the table how they want. Over the past 25 years, they have invested a lot of money in certain leagues and 1 team in particular. Inflate a program's recruiting rankings, and their FPI rises, which could lead to a higher ranking at the end of the season, which then feeds into future FPI rankings. I.e. ESPN can increase the odds that they get "popular" teams in the playoff games they televise. It's not about getting the best or most deserving teams in; it's about getting desirable matchups for tv while hiding behind a facade of objectivity and fairness.

Vegas would be a better, albeit imperfect, judge of team rankings.

Edited for grammar and to add: I wish the committee discussions were televised a la CSPAN for the sake of transparency. The fact that they don't, implies they don't want us to see how the sausage is made.

Amazing how beating a team with 0 conference wins and padding Arch's stats with a huge lead all of a sudden makes the sips better.
