12 Spots for playoff

**IN**

Ohio State (Lock)
Indiana (Lock)
Oregon (Lock if beat Washington)

A&M (Lock)
Georgia (Lock)
Ole Miss (Lock if Beat Miss State)
Bama (Lock if beat Auburn)
OU (Lock if beat LSU)

Notre Dame (Lock)

A G5 Team
An ACC Team
A Big 12 Team (Texas Tech)

*******

Above are the 12 playoff teams if Ole Miss, Bama, Oregon, and OU win their games.

****Bubble (Outside looking In)****

Michigan if Beat Ohio State
Vandy If beat Tennessee
BYU if win Big 12
Texas if beat A&M

****
Texas chances are really slim. Besides beating A&M, they need to root for at least 1 of Ole Miss, Bama, or OU losing. Then, They also need to root for Michigan to lose OR Oregon to lose. Because the Big 10 politically will demand at least three teams in. They are not going to let the SEC have six. And, on top of that, they need to root for Tech to win Big 12. And, on top of that, they need to root for Vandy to lose and Lane Kiffin to leave Ole Miss if Ole Miss is the team that loses, so that the committee maybe determines a 10-2 Kiffin-less team isn't worth the trouble.

That is a lot of chaos that a longhorns fan has to root for. But it won't matter anyways because they will be 8-4 after A&M beats them

Now that tessus is back! How high do they move up after beating the piggies? Do the subjective voters move them up 5 spots or more?

And, Manning is to be awarded the Heisman!!!

Was at my grandson's football game late this afternoon in Austin. The two dads behind me are sips. They were talking about the playoff situation to each other. I'm just listening. One guy says "even if we lose to A&M there is no way we will be excluded from the playoffs".

Even the sips have their doubts!!

tu also has one of the worst loses in the SEC by getting beat by a 3-8, 2-6 Florida.

This.

The fact that a 3-loss Texas with a loss to 3-8 Florida is even seriously discussed as a candidate to be in the field demonstrates the flaw in the current CFP selection process.

Having golden cows such as tu and Notre Dame get AT LEAST a one-game cushion over the rest of the field is infuriating.

So when we beat the piss out of them and knock them out of the rankings, we'll have one more unranked win I suppose.

If the committee is putting a premium on head to head, then why isn't miami ranked higher than notre dame? Their hypocrisy is unbelievable.

You mean the same Miami that lost to Louisville and SMU? would you say that Notre Dames losses to Miami and the Ags are worse than the losses Miami has against Louisville and SMU?

Ok

Don't fully disagree, but Notre Dame didn't get to play those teams. They did play Miami and lost. When the losses by Miami are to above average P4 teams, and the records are the same, head to head has to matter.

Josh Pate has a good segment on how the committee ranks and how head to head comes into play. The teams have to be in the same grouping for head to head to matter. The conversation actually centered around if Miami moved up enough where the ND game came into play. Texas-OU would be another example. My original point was the committee would value that Texas-Vandy result if they're ranked together. Somebody made a good point, perhaps they'll move Vandy ahead of Utah to avoid it. Also, Michigan jumping in the AP poll also is interesting, but personally I don't see what Michigan did to jump this week, other than Big 10 bias

It should matter as part of a portfolio of analysis though and not be the only factor. So we have Miami losses to SMU and Louisville, we have ND losses to us and Miami. They have Syracuse, Pitt, and Stanford as a common opponent. I'm happy to concede and say Miami above ND if Miami dominates Pitt this week and Stanford plays ND tight. But seeing how bad ND beat Syracuse, ita hard for me to put Miami above ND. Miami won the head to head but that was at the beginning of the season. We've seen a ton of football this season and have lots of data. I think if Miami and ND played today, ND would win. Ive not seen enough from Miami to say they're dominating the field. Remember early in the season, Alabama lost to Florida St. and look where Florida St is today.

Beginning of season vs end of season.. shouldn't matter. It doesn't in any other sport. Miami beat ND. That's what matters. As long as Miami beats Pitt, their best win will be ND. ND's best win will be.. USC? If head to head doesn't matter in that facet, then why are we even playing games?

tu isn't going to make the field. 18 teams stand ahead of them including the G5 champ, 8 teams that have zero or 1 losses with 1 left.

Committee has made is abundantly clear tu needs a lot of help to get in at 9-3.

Hopefully, the message from the committee takes all the wind out of the sips sails and they roll over for us so we can empty the stadium by the 4th quarter.

Who wants to wait until the 4th qtr?

Another thing, even though sip is one of the NCAA's favored teams, one thing the NCAA loves more is DEI. So the committee's efforts are more strongly focused on including as many non-SEC/B1G teams as possible instead of making an exception for an under-performing favorite.
