It would suck to have to be a kicker at a huge stadium with a hundred thousand people staring at you. I'd be so nervous. Or like a game winning kick? The whole team is either going to earn a win or a loss based on your individual performance. Haaaaaaard pass on being a kicker.

By the way, there 718 Class 4A and above high schools in Texas. If each had 2 kickers, 1400 kickers. over a 3 year period thats 4200 kickers. what % went to A&M? 1 in 50?

There is making a kick in practice and then there is making a kick under high pressure in front of 100,000 people with an SEC title or playoff game on the line.
How do you verify when combing the campus for former HS kickers who has not only the leg but the mental fortitude to handle a real big time college game environment?

My point exactly! If Zirkel misses 1 PAT or FG then obviously bench him! At the very least, it put's Bond on notice.
As a reminder, word on the one he missed was due to him getting injured.

Well he kicked all of game 2. Never heard anything about an injury just that Bond won the job back in practice.
Edit: Just saw where he had a groin injury.
Maybe we can get Tony Franklin to come out of retirement??

I know Taylor Bertolet was the Nation's top kicker coming out of high school but I can't find what star recruit he was. (Rivals shows him as having been a 3 star; AI shows 4 and 5 star; I thought I remember him being a 5 star but I could be misremembering)
I knew yesterday that Randy was only going to handle kickoffs and Zirkel will take care of extra points and fgs

There are no 5* recruits that being said the top 20 prospects from around the country are ranked and I am pretty sure A&M's injured kicker was considered to be among the best in the nation

But in all seriousness, good. Put Bond on notice and helpful to know our kicking game sucks while we can still do something about it. It's not a question of if but when it's going come back to bite us!
Zirkel is awful. Poor form and way too low a trajectory. Hate to say it but Bond is better. Who is 3rd string?
