By the way, there 718 Class 4A and above high schools in Texas. If each had 2 kickers, 1400 kickers. over a 3 year period thats 4200 kickers. what % went to A&M? 1 in 50?

We might have 85 kivkers on campus, not even including soccer players. NIL $? scholarship? fame and fun?

Maybe Zirkle cant hit from 45+ either? Other than last week, Bond has been absolutely fine from under 45 so I'd guess the coaches just conceded that we won't try anything long and assume randy is good with the short ones. I doubt one bad (terrible) kick changes that.

Bond has missed one kick inside of 40 yards the entire year including PATs. You sound like the 18-22 yr old making emotional decision that the 40 yr old coach has to be calm and measured to address.

We should have someone on the roster that can hit a FG consistently from 50-55 yards away. There's too much capable talent out there to not have that on our roaster at all times.

We aren't benching Bond. He will be our kicker barring injury for the rest of this season.

He's at a 61.1% kicking FGs this season. Is that good?

It's not good, but he's only missed 1 from inside the 40 and hasn't missed a PAT. With our offense as it is, hasn't mattered much. Hopefully it doesn't!

He's also kicking 61% for the year and is 5/11 from 40+. We're 127th in FGM percentage.

We need a long FG kIcker- at least one that gives
us a CHANCE from 50+ if we're in that position.

I think we could tactfully hold an open tryout for say, an "EXTREME" kicker- 55yds plus andnhave fun with it.

No shame to Bond to say we're looking for a "specialist specialist".
Wr just might have a national championship
riding on that in 7 weeks. Seems shortsighted not to even be looking for that out of not wanting to offend anyone. Kickers are supposed to have ice water in their veins.

by the way, there will be three weeks between end of semester and national semi-finals. lotsa practice opportunities.

I'm not super pleased with Bond this year and have a really small sample size on Zirkel but the kicks that I saw Z kick were extremely low in trajectory. If he hadn't gotten injured, I can't imagine how many he would have possibly gotten blocked once there was some film on him.

They are not benching Bond. He is to close to setting the points record at A&M for kickers.

Doesn't mean he shouldn't be benched though. No killer instinct.

Me thinks a hard recruitment of a 5* FG kicker is in order...assuming there's such a thing as a 5* FG kicker.
