Can someone explain how Aggies get a home game in CFP? I got my 12th man ticket request today and I am not sure why I would reserve my tickets.

If we lose to cow there is a 99% possibility we are #5 - #8 in final CFP poll and thus would be hosting a first round CFP game at home.

An 11-1 aTm team or any 11-1 SEC team will not be ranked 9-12.
Given our record, strength of record, wins over ranked teams, wins over currently CFP ranked teams, etc. there is not one 2 loss team that would jump ahead of us. Even if there was 1 there would not be 4 or 5, which is what would need to happen for us to fall below 8.

or beat tu but lose in the sec ccg- bama would likely jump all the way to 3.
It would be silly for the SEC champ, who beat GA at GA, to be ranked behind them. possible we would only drop to 4, but not guaranteed.

Why do people always seem to say these scenarios are silly? The ones where one team is behind another even though they beat them? It's all about timing. Just because you beat one team and they are ahead of you, the timing of losses come into play. I guess I don't see the craziness or silliness in it

Bigger question is whether we stay in the top 4 if we win and then lose in the SEC championship. My gut says yes, given that the committee has shown in the past that it doesn't like to punish teams for losing in their conference championship and in that scenario there would at most be only one undefeated team left. But there would only be three slots for Bama, Georgia, A&M and Big 10 conference loser.

Why would anyone doubt what we have been told?

We will host a playoff game at Kyle Field if we lose at Texas or to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
The most likely playoff scenarios
13-0 SEC Champion: No 1 or No. 2 Seed
12-1 SEC runner-up: No. 5 or No. 6 seed
11-1: No. 7 or No. 8 seed

Don't forget B12 winner. Assuming it's Tech, they are going to be positioned to leapfrog us if they win their conference and we lose. Margin of a loss/victory will certainly matter.
