Can someone explain how Aggies get a home game in CFP? I got my 12th man ticket request today and I am not sure why I would reserve my tickets.

Lose to Texas and we're probably hosting a game.

Go away rook
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

They're getting ahead of the possibility that IF we lose our first round bye week most likely host. Things will start to happen fast in that scenario and a competent organization is putting plans in case if that plays out.

If we lose to cow there is a 99% possibility we are #5 - #8 in final CFP poll and thus would be hosting a first round CFP game at home.

But why? Texas had such a tough schedule and is the best 7-3 team in the nation according to ESIPN

or beat tu but lose in the sec ccg- bama would likely jump all the way to 3.

It would be silly for the SEC champ, who beat GA at GA, to be ranked behind them. possible we would only drop to 4, but not guaranteed.

We would be very lucky to only fall that far.

If we were to lose SEC CCG then we'd be 5-8

Because you would like to attend the game of course if that weekend is inconvenient than someone else will be in those seats
In case you think those are " your seats " they are your seats because you pay the TMF for them

The CFP playoff game is not part of your season ticket package

For tickets that don't exist?

An 11-1 aTm team or any 11-1 SEC team will not be ranked 9-12.

Given our record, strength of record, wins over ranked teams, wins over currently CFP ranked teams, etc. there is not one 2 loss team that would jump ahead of us. Even if there was 1 there would not be 4 or 5, which is what would need to happen for us to fall below 8.

Hopefully we won't find out but if a loss happens, just watch

Exactly right. The same people claiming we will drop that low were saying tu would be in the playoff at 9-3.

Simplified for all:

1. Beat texas: Bye
2. Lose to texas: 5 seed
3. Blown out by texas: 8 seed at worst, more likely 7 seed

Why wouldn't you? It costs nothing to reserve and if we are hosting, you've got tickets.

I fully believe we're winning out but I'm reserving mine because there's no way I'm missing a playoff game at Kyle if it happens.

Why do people always seem to say these scenarios are silly? The ones where one team is behind another even though they beat them? It's all about timing. Just because you beat one team and they are ahead of you, the timing of losses come into play. I guess I don't see the craziness or silliness in it

This is typical for post season play where we have even a possibility to host. Requests are due before selection, so you have to make the decision base on that possibility.

Just for the record, volleyball post season requests went out at the same day as football. Volleyball is likely to host rounds 1&2, but is a long shot to host rounds 3&4. Still, there was the option to reserve tickets for rounds 3&4.

Of course I reserved my seats for both for volleyball and 1st round for football. Even though I don't expect rounds 3&4 for volleyball or hosting round1 for football, I'm going to be there if the games are played.

Especially when you consider it would be impossible to rank the teams such that every team is ahead of every team they beat.

OP refers to the seats as "my tickets" Under that logic a person would not need to reserve his tickets

Yeah hard to imagine we drop further than 8th if we lose on Black Friday. Bigger question is whether we stay in the top 4 if we win and then lose in the SEC championship. My gut says yes, given that the committee has shown in the past that it doesn't like to punish teams for losing in their conference championship and in that scenario there would at most be only one undefeated team left. But there would only be three slots for Bama, Georgia, A&M and Big 10 conference loser.

The only way I think we possibly fall to 8 is with a blowout loss (highly unlikely) and Alabama wins again over UGA in SECCG.

Don't forget B12 winner. Assuming it's Tech, they are going to be positioned to leapfrog us if they win their conference and we lose. Margin of a loss/victory will certainly matter.

The results of the SEC Champ Game are not supposed to matter at all in the seeding of the CFP.
Why would anyone doubt what we have been told?

Winning it certainly matters for seeding. If going to the game and losing is worse for you than not going at all, you'll see the end of CCG within 5 years.

Why is it silly?

Bama would have an extra loss

Right now the campus playoff games would be Lubbock, Oxford, Eugene, and Norman. I have sneaking suspicion, combined with some BAS, that the powers that be would love to bump College Station onto that list.

We will host a playoff game at Kyle Field if we lose at Texas or to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

The most likely playoff scenarios
13-0 SEC Champion: No 1 or No. 2 Seed
12-1 SEC runner-up: No. 5 or No. 6 seed
11-1: No. 7 or No. 8 seed

Disagree. 12-1 SEC runner-up for the Aggies is no worse than #4, unless a blowout loss.

Committee is going to be backtracking in a big way if we get relegated to a 5-6 seed with a SECCG loss. They have already said teams shouldn't be punished for conference championship appearance, no matter the outcome.

Unless it's a huge blowut, tech would not jump us at 12-1
