Troll job? He's playing the game he needs to play.

For what its worth, T-Bob said this morning on Wakeup Barstool that Lane isn't going to take the LSU job. T-Bob (Former LSU player and insider with Matt Moscona) tells it like it is and isn't just talking to talk.

So Florida

Ahh, the athletic. They are always factual. Not!

It's the reason they are doing so badly.

There would be a lot more smoke from other sources, not just them ifit were factual.

So they were wrong about them being in Baton Rouge?

They were not the original source for that.

LOL

Really

You know that is not what I asked about.

I agree with what you said earlier. We don't have to agree.

But I tire of responding when there is deflection such as this.

Lane is simply trolling for more money. It seems pretty obvious to me.

The point I was making is if they were correct about that why do you assume they are wrong about the other? And I have seen others reporting it too

Rumor is Lane might be waiting for a job that is not open as of yet.

What is OM gonna do if he does nothing? Fire him? He's got OM by the b****, and they know it.

So they deserve credibility for an original report because they repeated what someone else reported on another story?!

That's not the way it works.

Who said they were just repeating what someone else reported? The source I sent was citing per the athletic.

But not an ultimatum

Just watching his presser, I get the feeling he won't be at OleMiss next year. I suspect he will choose Florida and is just using LSU to help get a more advantageous contract.

You're right, AI says it was Moscona who broke the story for ESPN radio in Baton Rouge. He also happens to be saying that the Kiffins were touring Gainesville on Sunday. I got the source wrong, but still not the story

Rumor is Ole Miss has a giant contract on the table for him.

Him talking to LSU and Florida might be a major troll job by him. He could leave them hanging right up to National signing day (Dec 3rd) and then sign the extension. It's what he does.

That would be the ultimate troll job. String along two rivals and leave them without a coach up to NSD. Then they both miss opportunities for other coaches and have to make hasty decisions. Could take years to recover.

This isn't going to last until NSD....his contract with Ole Miss is no longer on the table November 28th. He has to make a decision before the end of the regular season.

He is going to LSU or Florida, I promise you.

If he doesn't sign by 11/28, is Ole Miss going to fire him? Haha. What if he asks for the same deal he has currently in January with Ole Miss, are they going to walk?

After reading this thread no sane school should go near Lane. The guy is a drama queen.

I actually feel sorry for Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida for getting involved with him.

I've made a move in my professional career that was somewhat similar to this, the new job offered me a better long term opportunity and it was the best move I have ever made. I even had to convince my wife by telling her I'm making this move for the next 5 to 10 years, not just for right now and she also agrees now it was the right decision even if she was hesitant about it.

People make decisions like this every day in this country, I don't see why it's so weird for Kiffin.

Kiffin is contractually bound, at least by the terms of his original contact (I can't find any extension), to inform the university if he is seeking outside employment, either directly or through an agent. As long as he's done that, he isn't prohibited from actually talking to anyone and any "ultimatum" that is being talked about has no contractual basis.

You can't demand someone sign a contract or even an extension. If his contract expires this year, and I doubt it does, all they can do is withdraw the extension offer and he's out.

When you have the opportunity to leave a job like Ole Miss in favor of the Florida or LSU job, you take that opportunity every single time. Those kinds of jobs don't come around very often. Kiffin in particular loves having attention on him, and he'd have way more of it at either of those programs than he currently does at Ole Miss. It's probably just a matter of who offers him more money between Florida or LSU at this point.

If what you think what you are are moving to is better.

Doesn't have to be about money.

Kiffin makes enough that, if it were me, taking less pay to stay somewhere he's happy with makes sense. But I like stability and there is something to be said for it.

However, if he's ambitious and wants to take the risk of leaving the devil he knows for the grass seems greener pastures, the possibility of more/better: money, recruiting base, lifestyle, perks, etc... could sway him. He's still going to make plenty, probably more, money.

He seems to like taking risks.

I suspect he will take the grass seems greener pasture.

There is a poster on the Florida message boards, who apparently has a track record of insider information saying that Kiffin to Florida is essentially a done deal

Sorry to hear that.

It also didn't work out great for Jimbo and BK, but nobody said they were weird for doing it (they are both weird for a lot of other reasons)

I dont think its about money, ol miss has offered a extension, and it probably matches any other. Ol miss. Is a step below lsu and florida. Their stadium is small and sucks. Oxford is a quaint little town, but there really is nothing there. It would be easier for him to win it all at florida or lsu.

My whole point is that it's not weird that Lane Kiffin is interested in leaving Ole Miss for Florida or LSU
LB12Diamond

It was about money for Jimbo and BK.

While Lane, who knows what he's thinking but money is not the driver yet.

So, I don't think it's a good comparison.
